Sari's POV
It was another normal day at the base when...
"Prime!" Agent Fowler shouted over the comms. "Prime!"
"Special agent Fowler?" Optimus responded. "To what do we owe –"
"What else? 'Cons! I chased them off with some hard ordnance, but not before they blew me out of the sky."
"Again?" Miko asked with a laugh. I gave her a look as if to say "be nice."
"They tried a smash-and-grab for the DNGS," Fowler explained."
"The... what'sit?" Arcee asked.
"Dynamic Nuclear Generation System, AKA, DNGS."
"Someone's gotta tell him that acronym is just as bad as the ones my dad has come up with," I said offhandedly. Miko chuckled slightly. "I'm dead serious, Miko! His name for an LRT line in 22nd century Detroit was the Fully Automated Rapid Transit System, AKA FARTS. And don't even get me started on the Bi-directional Unified Transit Terminal."
"It's a prototype energy source I'm porting to the coast for testing," Fowler continued explaining.
"That's absurd," Ratchet said. "Why would Starscream bother with such primitive technology?"
"I'm guessing to make a big fat primitive weapon of mass destruction. If this baby were to melt down, it would irradiate this state and the four next door."
"Uh... Did agent Fowler say what state he was currently in?" Raf asked. I checked my personal GPS.
"It looks like he's somewhere in northeastern Nevada, near the Nevada-Utah border," I reported.
"I'm a sitting duck here, Prime," Fowler said. "I need you to spin up your bridge and send the DNGS to its destination before the 'cons come back for it."
"I'm afraid that sending such a volatile device through a GroundBridge is out of the question," Optimus said, his tone grim. "If there were to be an accident during its transmission, the radiation of which you speak could propagate through the GroundBridge vortex and harm all fifty states and beyond."
"You got any better ideas?"
Optimus, Bulkhead, Bumblebee, Arcee, and I were getting ready to roll, with Arcee positioned inside Optimus's trailer to guard the DNGS.
"Thanks for letting me come with, Optimus," I said as I hopped into the passenger seat. "I promise you I won't let you down." Fowler reached for the steering wheel, but Optimus noticed.
"No need, agent Fowler," he said. "I will handle the driving."
"It's gonna be a long trip," Fowler said, folding his arms.
"Autobots, roll out!" All the Autobots turned on their engines, and we were off, successfully merging onto the highway.
"We are locked on to your coordinates, Optimus," Ratchet said over the comms. "Barring any complications, you should reach the dropoff point by sundown."
We ended up stuck behind an old, rusty vehicle driving at least 20 miles below the speed limit, and what was Fowler doing? Honking Optimus's horn like there was no tomorrow.
"Move it, Gramps!" he grumped.
"Agent Fowler, is that really necessary?" Optimus asked sternly.
"Ah, don't tell me you're one of them textbook drivers."
"You know, you're saving my bacon here, Prime," Fowler said after a while.
"I am proud to be of service," Optimus said.
