CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE - THE COPYCAT

I WAS WEARING A SILVER SHIRT with a gray flannel over it as Javi joined us with his guitar. "Hey, Javi." Izzy greeted.

"What's up?" Javi greeted back.

"Hey."

"How are you feeling about this Songathon, Javi?" Zayto asked.

"Pretty confident." Javi sits down next to Zayto. "Well, cos I'm singing my best song, Spotlight."

"It's so good." Izzy praised. "I can't believe my brother wrote it."

"Oh, I love that song." Ollie said. "Now I'm free to dance into my spotlight."

"Please, Ollie. Never get into the music industry. I think my ears are bleeding." I stated, causing Ollie to smack my arm.

"Hey, I'm a great singer." Ollie defended.

"You really aren't." Amelia and I said in unison before I turned over to look at Javi.

"I also heard a rumor that whoever wins the competition will get to collaborate with the Levi Weston." I said, trying not to make it sound suspicious.

"Not a rumor, Dacoda. It's true. Mr Weston himself will be spectating." Javi informed. "Spotlight is the perfect song for this comp. I really wanna win."

Carlos came over as he chuckled. "That's my boy. How you feeling?" He questioned.

"Just hoping that my practice pays off." Javi responded.

"It's got to. But you shouldn't take anything for granted, so how about one last practice for your old man?" Carlos suggested.

"You got it." Javi said as Carlos sat down. "Spotlight, comin' up."

Javi began to strum his guitar.

And now I'm free to dance into my spotlight.
Watch me while I paint the sky so bright.
I knew I'd be all right, dancing in my spotlight.

We all clapped when he finished as Izzy's phone chimed, making her gasp.

"Contest time! Come on!" Izzy told us.

"Let's go." Carlos said.

We soon entered BuzzBlast. "All righty. Places, everyone. It's Songathon time." We heard J-Borg announce. "Now give it up for your host, Jane!"

"Welcome to the annual BuzzBlast Songathon, where only one talented musician will win the title of best original song along with a collaboration with Mr Levi Weston." Jane said. "Performers will battle it out in our studio and online, cos we're livestreaming around the world. Your job is to vote on the BuzzBlast app and help our expert judges with the accompany of Mr Weston decide who wins. Now give it up for our first performer Mr Ed Jones, aka Pop-Pop!"
