CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT - GUILT TRIP

I WAS AT BUZZBLAST WEARING a silver shirt with a gray flannel over it, looking at Amelia's laptop screen. "Whoa! Stine Hotel has had over 200 recorded ghost sightings." Amelia stated.

"And even better, they have room service." I pointed out.

"So we can get hot chocolate at 3:00 a.m. from the most haunted hotel on the coast?" Amelia asked. "Perfect."

"Why do I have a feeling you two have done that before?" Ollie questioned, joining us.

"Because we have. We've also eaten ramen at odd hours in the morning." I answered as Ollie raised an eyebrow. "What? Ramen with cheese tastes better at 3:00 a.m."

"I am so ready. Look what came in the mail." Amelia said, grabbing a device.

"An electromagnetic frequency sensor?" I questioned.

"Yup. Every ghost hunter has this exact same model, so if something spooky goes on in that hotel, we'll know." Amelia responded.

"Not a bad idea for a date night, huh?" I told her, nudging her a little.

"The best." Amelia agreed.

"By the way. Ollie, when Melia and I aren't investigating. I can show you around Grid Battleforce. We'll be in the area anyway and I'm sure Devon won't mind." I suggested.

"Really? I always wanted to see inside of the agency. Kinda jealous you spent most of your time there." Ollie admitted. "Come to think of it, you've been acting weird since you went all evil. Something up?"

I shifted uncomfortably. I hadn't really told Ollie, Amelia, or any one of our friends about my unfortunate fate. The best I could do was make due with the time I had left with them — however long that may be.

"Nothing you should worry about. Just want to spend some time with my girlfriend and my best friend." I reassured as Ollie and Amelia gave each other a look of uncertainty.

"If you say so." Ollie sighed.

"You know, I used to beg Pop-Pop to take me to a haunted hotel on vacation, but it was always a hard no." Amelia stated.

"So your boyfriend gets to take you instead. And bonus: I don't snore." I claimed.

"True. But once you fell asleep on the beach, and you did drool." Amelia reminded me.

"Oh. Well, it was adorable, right?" I asked.

"Mm-hmm."

"Right?" I asked again as Ollie snickered. "Hello?"

Ollie's phone soon chimed as he took it out of my pocket. "Sorry. I'll just be a sec." He informed, getting up from his seat and stepping away from us.
