(19) MAUDIE'S PROBLEM part 3

At the mall right after the previous chapter

Maudie's POV

Me: Ava, do I have to wear this?

I step outside the fitting room, showing my outfit.

Ava: You look great, girl.

I look in the mirror and see myself all dressed up.

I was wearing a light blue t-shirt underneath a white cardigan, a pleated black skirt, white leggings, and low heel brown boots.

Me: Are you sure?

Ava: Of course. This outfit helps emphasize your short, slender body with cuteness and elegance.

I blushed at Ava's compliments.

But my face turned bright red, and my heart beat faster, once I thought of Ezra looking at me.

Me: Where's Kyle, by the way?

I was eager to change the subject to get Ezra out of my mind.

Ava: He went to the food court. I ran out of cookies.

Oh, Kyle.

Ava: Let's pay for the clothes and get out of here.

We went to the cashier and paid.

We left the store and walked around the mall.

Me: So you said you had a plan?

Ava: Oh, right. I almost forgot.

She showed me a bullet point note on her phone.

Plan Ezra x Maudie

• Dress amazing (check)
• Get Ezra to go on a date
• Go to Moorabbin Primary School
• Use nostalgia and memories to create a romantic atmosphere
• Return to Inbestigators office
• Let love take over

Me: Ummm... what does the last one mean?

Ava: Oh, that? It's nothing. Just forget that last one, but keep the rest in mind.

Now I'm concerned.

Ava: May I borrow your phone? I need to text Ezra for the first part of the plan.

I hand her my phone.

She proceeded to use my phone...

... for something.

Me: What are you doing?

Ava: I'm texting Ezra that you need to talk, hang out, and get rid of misunderstandings.

Me: What? Now? I thought we'd wait for a few days?

Ava: Nope. The sooner we do it, the better it will be. Trust me.
