Y/n's POV

A year later and theres another baby. Bash and his wife Mary had a baby girl that they named Delphine, and I was named as her Godmother and Gilbert her Godfather.

School has been going very fast, we're almost off to university. Gilbert is determined to go to a fancy university far away, I could never go that far from home. Most of the girls are going to Charlottetown. Miss Stacy has been the most incredible teacher and influence on all of us.

Gilbert is still doing his apprenticeship with the doctor so we don't have much free time to spend together. As well as school I'm helping care for both George and Delphine. Lilly tries to help as well, it's very sweet.

"Do they ever stop crying?" Lilly asks as she sits down with Mary, Elizabeth and me, and the babies in their mothers arms.

"You were like this you know." Lizzy laughs as George tries to pull her hair.

"I was not!" Lilly argues as we all laugh.

"My son Elijah was worse than this, he cried constantly." Mary sighs, smiling down at her beautiful baby girl.

"I don't think I could ever be a mother, how am I supposed to care for a child, I ran into a fire!" I laugh.

"You'll be an excellent mother." Gilbert says from behind me. "Surprise." He whispers as he kisses my cheek.

"Aren't you in Charlottetown?" I ask as I walk around the couch to hug him.

"Aren't you more important to me?" He laughs as he hold me tight.

"You two are so sweet." Mary laughs as she tries to rock Delphine to sleep.

"When will you be married? It's been forever since you gave her that ring." Bash adds from the doorway.

Everyone laughs and Lilly walks over to Gilbert and me.

"But seriously. The princess always marries the handsome prince." Lilly explains as Gilbert picks her up to give her a hug.

"Is that so?" I ask her as she rest her head on his shoulder.

"It is." She states. "And if you don't want him I do!"

Everyone laughs again and I take her from his arms.

"I don't think that's fair." I say as I hold the now eight year olds hands and kneel down to look her in the eyes. "He's mine." I whisper to her and she just starts laughing.

As Easter approaches Mary has fallen seriously ill and Gilbert thinks that modern medicine is doing nothing to help her.

Anne and I are looking after Mary and Delphine as much as we can, alongside our studies. Anne came up with the excellent idea of asking the Mi'kmaq villagers for help and she will be there today with them, I wish I could be there too but mother asked me to help with the planning for something, she didn't really explain.

Everyone in the town chipped in to put on an amazing Easter celebration, even though Mary was very sick, but she seems to be doing much better. Gilbert is hopeful and Bash is sure she's fine, but he won't let her do anything that could tire her out, the most she does is a daily walk with me, Lizzy and the babies, I often carry Delly for her.
