Gilbert's POV
"Shall we go eat?" Adam suggests and we all stand and they lead me into the dining room, but I stay behind a little so I can talk to y/n.
"Are you ok? You seem uncomfortable." I say placing my hand on her shoulder.
"I just don't want them to make you feel uncomfortable, it's not the most standard way for you to meet my family with all the extra people." She laughs a little.
"I'm not uncomfortable. I like it. And I also want to say that you look spectacular." I take her hand and place a kiss.
"Say that in front of Lizzy, she chose my outfit and wants compliments." We laugh together, and then enter the dining room with everyone else and here the seating arrangement has changed. Mr y/l/n is at one end and his wife at the other, there is then an empty seat, then Mr and Mrs Stuarts are next to each other with Elizabeth next to her mother and Mrs y/l/n, Adam is across from Elizabeth and so y/n sits next to him and me on her left, next to Lilly.
"Gilbert, I hope you like the food, it is all fresh." Mrs Stuarts says.
"It looks amazing."
"Shall we eat?" Mr y/l/n asks and everyone starts passing food around the table. I haven't eaten in a big group for a very long time.
"This food is incredible!" I exclaim.
"It is." Y/n agrees nodding at me.
When everyone stops eating they all talk for a little while, Lilly keeps asking me questions, about literally anything and y/n is laughing. She has a really nice laugh.
"Well, I think that was a very nice afternoon, thank you again Gilbert." Mr y/l/n says.
"No no. It's fine I promise." I assure him and we begin to head towards the doorway.
"Elizabeth," I say, "y/n looked very nice, she told me you chose the dress." I whisper.
"I hope I see you soon Gilbert Blythe." She says and walks over to her mother to say something.
"Thank you again for having me." I say as I leave but then I hear y/n.
"Let me walk you home." She says looking back at a giggling Elizabeth.
We begin to walk and she tells me that Elizabeth pushed her out the door after him.
"She is a very funny young lady." I say and y/n just laughs.
"I agree, I am happy she will be my sister." She says. I stop walking and she turns around.
Just then I say, "She told me today was to show your parents that we should get married, did you know that?"
"No, well Lizzy and her mother were joking about it yesterday, but I didn't think they were being serious until what my dad said about how you saved me when Billy didn't." Oh, I step forward and pull her into a hug.
"I'm glad it wasn't Billy, he doesn't deserve you. I don't even think I deserve you. You are the best friend anyone could ask for. That's why I said I love you"
"Thank you." She sounds like she is crying.
"No, don't cry, you're going to make me cry." I say pulling out of the hug to wipe away her tears.
She smiles and then looks behind me and gasps. I turn around to see the fox.
"We need a name for him." I say.
"How about... Frankie?" She suggests.
"Perfect. Hello Frankie."
"We should get you to your house now." She laughs while I am still waving to Frankie.
