"Xiao Ying, until we know more about your parents death, could you refrain from using your fox form in public?" Wangji asked.

"Of course Ge," Xiao Ying answered.

"Is the mark on your forehead going to give you away as a fox?" Wangji asked.

"Watch," Xiao Ying replied and waved his hand over his birth mark causing it to disappear, "it is still there but it's hidden."

"Good, because next month there is an archery competition in Qishan. I would love it if you would join me. You would be allowed to participate with me," Wangji told him.

"Really? I want to," he said excitedly.

"Since you agreed, why don't we spend today at the archery grounds so you can practice and I can tell you what we will be doing exactly," Wangji said, "and so you know, you will be going as a disciple of our sect. We will have robes prepared for you."

"Okay," Xiao Ying said, "can I tell you something first."

"You can tell me anything you want," Wangji said.

"In the past when I was with my parents, they were able to suppress it but now that I am on my own, I do not know how. A few times a year a nine tail fox goes though either a rut or a heat. Ruts are usually for male and it is when they are looking for a mate to breed. Since there are no other foxes, the rut will be painful. And I will have urges..." he explained, "I do not know what to do."

Lan Wangji was trying to take in this information, "how long does the rut last?"

"A rut happens two to three times a year and it can last from one to four days. If I can mate to take away the urges it will go away faster," he said.

"Do you know when you're rut will come?" Wangji asked.

"Next week," he answered.

"Okay," Wangji said and took a deep breath, "does it have to be a fox?"

"Why?" Xiao Ying questioned.

"If it makes you uncomfortable, you can say no, but what if you used...me to help you?" He asked.

"Are you sure, I do not want to hurt you," Xiao Ying told him, "something that also happens is that I may bite you to mark you. It lets others know that you belong to me and no one can touch you except for me. I will be more protective of you."

"I will be okay with it," Wangji said, "and I am sure your instincts will help you make me comfortable, correct?"

"Of course," Xiao Ying said, "and you know what I mean by mating right?"

Wangji nodded. Normally, he would have thoughts and curiosities about taking Xiao Ying. Touching him, loving him, wanting to know what he feels like. He was willing to let Xiao Ying have a taste of him first as it was to help him. Wangji was also curious as to what it would be like. So maybe in another time, he could ask Xiao Ying if he could try but for now, he will trust Xiao Ying.

"I do," he answered, "it's intercourse. I do have a request though."

"What?" Xiao Ying asked.

"After the rut is over...could I try it in you?" Wangji asked.

Xiao Ying blinked. Mating outside of his rut was normal as some foxes have heats at different times. But he wondered what it would be like to be done to him what he would do to Wangji. So he nodded in response, "sure, we can talk more about it later."

"You know I can't actually get pregnant though," Wangji said.

"It does not matter, just need to take away the urges," Xiao Ying said, "but I am thankful you to let me touch you."

Wangji nodded, "want to go to the archery grounds for a while then?" He asked.

"Yes," Xiao Ying said.

The two of them went to go train archery for a while. Wangji set up a couple new targets as it was to demonstrate what the targets would look like at the competition. As they were training, Lan Xichen came to supervise for a bit.

"Keep practicing, I need a have a word with my brother," Wangji said.

"Okay," Xiao Ying replied.

Wangji then went to Lan Xichen and pulled him to the side to talk privately, "what is wrong?"

"I...had a talk with Xiao Ying about something and I hope it won't make you uncomfortable for what I will tell you," Wangji told him.

"What is it?" Xichen asked.

"Xiao Ying told me he is close to his rut," He explained, "do you know what that means?"

Lan Xichen has to think on that for a moment, "a rut?"

"Well, two to three times a year male foxes go through a rut. It is when they have the need to...mate. It lasts anywhere from one to four days," Wangji explained.

"So he would be needed another fox to help him. If he doesn't mate?" Xichen asked.

"He said it can be painful if he doesn't mate.....so I.....offer to help him," Wangji told him.

Lan Xichen had to take in this information for a moment. His little brother had offered to let Xiao Ying touch him and help him get through his rut, "are you sure about this?" He asked.

Wangji nodded, "I do not mind if he touches me that way, especially if it helps...but the problem will be privacy," he said.

"Place a barrier over Jingshi, it will keep the noise from leaving the walls. It will not disturb others...if you need other things you can talk to someone at the infirmary about it," Xichen told him.

"Oh, he also told me that his instincts will be in overdrive so he could end up marking me," Wangji said, "it would mean he would be extra possessive of me and that I belong to no one but him."

Lan Xichen smirked, "we might have to sit down and discuss this marriage thing again," he teased.

Lan Wangji's face was so red from this conversation that he did not know if the color will change, "I would not mind," Wangji said taking the tease in stride, "I will give him my forehead ribbon."

Lan Xichen smirked, "I will not tell uncle of this...the marriage however, we will bring up to him later."

"Thank you...and sorry if you got uncomfortable...I just wanted you to know what will happen," Wangji explained.

"Did he say when it will happen?" Xichen asked.

"Next week," Wangji said.

"Well, it would seem my brother would be losing his innocence soon. Proud of you," he said.

"Have you?" Wangji probed.

"I am not going to answer that," Xichen said.

"I will take it as a yes, you have slept with someone," Wangji said.

"This conversation is done now," Xichen said, "I need to get going."

Wangji chuckled, "fine, do not tell me. It only supports my suspicions more though. I will get back to training."

"Just behave," Xichen said and left.

Wangji sighed and let out a light snort as it was a way of laughing a little. He then went back to Xiao Ying and practiced for the competition coming up.

(Just to be clear, I am doing something a bit different in this. There is no dominant Wangji as he was willing to let Xiao Ying do so to him. But they are to alternate as Wangji had asked. It's different but I hope you will be cool with it...also, it's just a story so in this male foxes go through ruts and females go through heats. Using some omegaverse stuff here 😂).
