The fight against the Wens was coming up quickly. Xiao Ying was doing really well with his training. With Baoshan's help, he was able to learn how to focus his senses so he doesn't drown in them like he did in the past. Lan Wangji and Xiao Ying were working on some drills at the moment when a Lan disciple comes over to tell them Nie Mingjue ordered an emergency meeting.

The two went to the meeting area and they saw Baoshan, Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan there as well, "Wai Po," Xiao Ying greeted.

"Hello sweetie," she said happily.

"Glad you two come make it," Nie Mingjue said, "I called this meeting because we are all set to storm Nightless City. We have three groups already paving the way to the Sun Scorching Palace as we speak. One of those groups is one of Baoshan's. I received word that corpses are in abundance there. Wen Ruohan knows we are coming so we have to be careful."

"We are ready," Xiao Ying said.

"Good, because we are heading out," Baoshan said.

Wangji and Xiao Ying went with Baoshan, Xingchen, and Song Lan to start ahead of them. Baoshan had eight others with her and they were ready for a fight. They heard Wen Ruohan was responsible for killing their former king and queen so they want to bring them justice.

Upon reaching Nightless City, there was a lot more corpses then they expected. Each of the Foxes has their own special abilities, including elemental abilities, extreme strength and speed, and so on. Xiao Ying can cultivate fire, so while using his sword, he lit the blade ablaze and cut down any corpse in his way.

His training has helped him a lot but since he is fighting for his parents, he suddenly got lost in it. Xiao Ying turned to the doors of the palace and burst through them. Lan Wangji followed him as he was nervous.

"Xiao Ying, remember to focus," Wangji reminded.

Xiao Ying nodded as they entered the main hall. Wen Ruohan was sitting there as if he was waiting for them. Xiao Ying summoned soul piercing nails and tossed them towards the Yin Iron that was controlling the corpses. The needles on impact turned the metal into ash and cleared out the resentful energy.

Wen Ruohan was furious, "who are you?" He asked.

"Your worse nightmare," Xiao Ying said and summoned more nails, "I am the prince of Qing Qiu, soon to be announced as their new king. You are responsible for killing their king and queen, my parents."

"I have no idea what you are going on about," Wen Ruohan said.

Xiao Ying summoned binding ropes and bound Wen Ruohan. He then approached him carefully, "Qing Qiu, home of the Nine Tailed Fox tribe. You killed their king and queen, my parents."

"You are a fox too?" He asked curiously, "those tails I have are gorgeous."

"They are not yours. Forcibly taking a foxes' tail places a curse on you and your entire bloodline, you are doomed to die a miserable death," he said.

Xiao Ying took his nails and threw them to Wen Ruohan. One nail in each of his eyes, and two pierced his throat. Wangji had never seen such a scene. Wen Ruohan was dead and when Xiao Ying said miserable death, he was not joking in the least. Xiao Ying turned and just walked out of the palace. Wangji caught Xiao Ying as he collapsed at the door, and picked him up.

On the way back to camp, Wangji explained to Baoshan what happened. She had to admit that was a bit much for a death but it was Xiao Ying who needed the vengeance and he got it. She said he will be fine and that he passed out from exhaustion and shock.

"He will probably need you to calm him down when he wakes," Baoshan said, "once the rest of this Wen Sect mess is handled, I will talk with your brother and uncle about having you come to Qing Qiu for a while. Learn the ways we live and maybe become one of us."

"Thank you," he said.

"Of course, you are now apart of this family, plus as his partner you two need education on ruling over Qing Qiu," Baoshan said, "now you get some rest as well."

"Alright," Wangji said.

After Baoshan left, Wangji prepared a bath and took a quick one. He then prepared a tub of warm water and cleaned up Xiao Ying. He then helped Xiao Ying into more comfortable clothes to sleep in, such as a tunic and pants. Wangji dressed the same way and laid down with Xiao Ying for a while.

Wangji placed a privacy ward over their tent to keep people from disturbing them. They only way to enter is if it was one of Xiao Ying's family members or Wangji's uncle or brother. Wangji then sat up and decided to meditate for a while before getting some sleep.

During his meditation, his mind was distracted. He woke from his meditation and began to let his thoughts roam. He was surprised to see all those people from Qing Qui fighting for their family. Wangji thought the fox tribe was something special. He felt happy to be apart of it. He wanted to marry Xiao Ying but he wondered when that would happen.

Xiao Ying is still considered young in his land. So he isn't sure what will happen. From what it sounds like, Baoshan is the Queen Dowager. A dowager queen is a former queen consort whose husband has died. Dowager queens may also take the title of queen mother, referring to their role as mother of the monarch. She was Wei Ying's mother's mother. Making her the mother queen. She took over after her daughter passed.

She lost her husband long ago but she still does a lot of hard work to help maintain her family and the people of Qing Qui. She was now having to be the one to teach Wangji and Xiao Ying the new roles.
