Kent began to inspect his surroundings. But the only thing that surrounded him was grassy plains and trees.
The first thing that came to mind was to look for people. They could tell him where he was. So, he began to sprint across the plains. In search for anyone that could help him.
But as he was rushing through the blades of grass, a looming question arose.
"What happened to Kathleen?"
The thought of her being dead enraged him, but this rage motivated him to keep fighting, and keep pushing until he found her, or his friend. But there was a chance that Kathleen was here. A chance that Kathleen was stranded somewhere in this unknown land.
As he continued to sprint across the plains, he spotted the coastline in the distance. And oddly, there seemed to be a group of buildings with wooden fences surrounding it along the coastline.
Finally, civilization. This was beneficial for Kent
as he could ask for help, or get directions as long as there were people there. And even if no one was there, that meant there used to be people here,
or they could still be somewhere. So, he rushed towards the coastline. As he got closest, he could vaguely see silhouettes of people, standing guard on each rooftop. He then waved his arms in the air frantically.
"Hello!" Yelled Kent.
Kent appeared to have gotten their attention, as the silhouettes of the people turned around and looked directly at him. As Kent got closer and closer, the people could see him clearer. One of the people raised their fist, telling the others to hold their fire.
The person climbed off the roof and started to run over to Kent. The person appeared to be a male, he wore a military grade vest that looked to be identical to Michael's. But everything else he wore was basic and worn down. The man was holding an SMG. It looked to be an MP5. Kent was familiar with an MP5, it was always his go to for close encounters.
The man got only a few feet away from Kent until he stopped moving closer."Hands in the air, now." Said the man.
"Why?" Asked Kent.
"Just do it." Said the man.
Kent raised his hands, and the man approached him slowly. He dug through Kent's pockets, and made sure they were empty.
"Where are you from?" Asked the man.
"Michigan." Replied Kent.
"And, uh. Where am I?" Asked Kent.
"What do you mean?" Asked the man.
"I said, where am I?" Said Kent.
"The Deadzone. You should know the name by now." Replied the man.
"Why are you playing so dumb?" Asked the man.
"I just arrived here. That's why I'm so clueless." Said Kent.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you've been here for a while." Replied the man.
"I-It's okay. I'm just so confused right now." Said Kent.
"Here, follow me. We can discuss this inside one of the buildings, it's a lot safer." Suggested the man.
"Alright." Replied Kent.
Kent followed the man towards the group of buildings, and walked inside a big green building.
"What's your name anyway?" Asked the man.
"Kent, Viltrem." Said Kent.
"I'm Arthur Yutren, the co-founder of the Coastline Reserve." Said the man.
