"Wait, why? What business do you have there?" Asked Kent.
"At a trading reserve about 5 hours away from here, I got information on there being a chance of a helicopter there, one that works. Explained Kathleen."Ironic. I did too." Replied Kent.
"We should go together." Suggested Kathleen.
"I don't know about that..." Hesitated Kent.
"Oh come on. Look, I know we just met. But it's better to be together then alone." Said Kathleen.
"Yeah. But how do I know you won't betray me in the end and take the chopper all for yourself?" Asked Kent.
"You'll just have to trust me." Replied Kathleen.
Kent stood back up and brushed dirt off his shoulders. He then looked down at the bandage, and slightly groaned. He could still feel the pain.
"Hurts like hell." Said Kent.
"You'll get over it." Said Kathleen.
"Hope so." Replied Kent.
"Well. Let's get a move on, we can make it to a trading outpost before sundown if we leave now." Stated Kathleen.
"Alright. Let's go." Said Kent.
As they began to walk north, Kathleen was non-stop talking to him. She was rambling on about things like her life before the fall, and the things she used to love. But Kent was essentially ignoring her until she asked him a question.
"What did you do back then?" She asked.
Kent didn't trust her yet.
"I was a fisherman." Said Kent.
He lied. But it was for the best. But inside, he didn't know why he lied about his past occupation, as it didn't matter to anyone anymore. He just didn't trust her yet.
"That's cool, like I said earlier, I was a barista in training. Fishing seems a lot cooler than what I did." Replied Kathleen.
Kent shrugged in response.
They resumed their journey for about two hours, but came to a halt when the entered a town.
"Is this it?" Asked Kent.
"No. The town we're headed to is called Petoskey. This town here is called Yuron." Explained Kathleen.
"I'm going to search for weapons. I'll be back." Said Kent.
"O-Okay, I'll be looking for food and other things. Replied Kathleen.
Kent walked away from her and down the street, Kent was lucky enough to find a hunting store. Which if it wasn't already ransacked, would almost guarantee a gun and ammo. So, he opened the semi-glass door and walked inside. There were empty coat racks, barren shelves, and debris scattered across the floor. So far, it wasn't looking so good. He scavenged the entire main room. He found some boxes of ammunition, but they were the kind he didn't have a use for. He kept them anyways as he might end up with a weapon that requires them. As he continued to rummage around, he spotted medium sized backpack.
"Fuck yeah." Said Kent.
Kent approached the bag on the floor, he unzipped the main pocket and looked inside. He found some used clothes and surprisingly, he saw a worn machete. The blade had some ridges marked in it, and also had a faint bloodstain on the metal. Kent attached the machete to the side of the bag, and slipped it onto his back. He then resumed his search for a firearm. Once he finished searching the main room and had no luck, he moved to the back rooms. Inside of them, there seemed to be weapon cabinets, which could only mean one thing.
