Not a monster to her

I'm a man eating monster to the world, a face of dread,
But in her I'm just another soul that she seeks to befriend.
Though fear reigns in the hearts of many, from her I find no trace,
Her loyalty amuses me, her gentleness a grace.
It's hard to be a monster and not be met with scorn,
But when she looks at me it's as if I've been newly born.
She sees no monstrosity and thus shows me the light,
Giving me courage and strength to never ever take flight.
So I won't be scorned or frowned upon by those who haven't heard,
Of a friendship so sublime between a monster and a bird.
It doesn't matter how I look or how terrifying I seem,
I'm thankful that her love has given me a new dream.
