The present
Before the cocktail: Maahi's cabin
It was a crisp evening. Perfect weather to celebrate love.
Maahi looked in the mirror and saw her reflection. She had worn a simple kurta and pants. Her grandmother's antique chandbalis twinkled in her ears.
She knew that she would be seeing Aarush again. She also knew that he would see her too. But her faith in the fact that it had been years and her being a long-forgotten classmate, was strong. After all, he hadn't been in her shoes. He had been in a longstanding relationship with his high school sweetheart. They were probably married by now. Leading the lives that they had envisioned for themselves in college.
As she was stepping out, she got a text on her phone.
"Hey Maahi, this is Kajal Parekh. I was wondering if I could speak with you once before the cocktail. I have a favour to ask of you. Come by my room at around 5.30 if that works? If not, text me where I can meet you. Thanks! :)"
Maahi smiled and stepped out of her cabin.
