The present: At the Mehras'

It was late when Maahi returned. She didn't want to wake anyone up so she gingerly turned the key in the lock and tiptoed into the house. She saw a dim hall light still on as she kept her bag on the table and pulled her shoes off. With a short yawn, she stretched her limbs out. It had been a surprisingly good date. The guy was nice. The conversation was engaging. There was definitely promise.

She was about to head over to her room when she saw a shape curled up on the sofa. She inched closer to the sofa and saw Aarush fast asleep there.

Great. Dadaji was clearly having a sleepover with his newest friend. She frowned and gave up.

She marched over to her room and brought back a throw. She then gently laid it over him and stepped back, still looking at him. She knew he was fast asleep. No one was looking. So, she took in this moment quietly, letting her guard down. But she couldn't stay here forever. She then picked up her bag from the table, turned the light off and slowly made her way back to her room.
