Chapter 10: The Breaking Point
A School Day from Hell
The day started like any other for YN, but an ominous feeling settled in her chest as she walked through the school gates. The usual whispers and sidelong glances followed her through the hallways, but today they seemed sharper, more malicious. She tried to stay out of sight, but the bullies seemed to have a sixth sense for finding her, no matter where she hid.
It wasn’t long before they cornered her. Jiho and his group, always looking for new ways to torment her, were waiting for her in the stairwell after lunch. “Where do you think you’re going?” Jiho’s voice was slick with mockery, echoing off the concrete walls.
YN’s heart pounded in her chest as she tried to push past them, but they blocked her path, closing in like predators around prey. “Just leave me alone,” she pleaded, her voice trembling.
But her words only seemed to amuse them. Jiho grabbed her by the arm, yanking her back into the centre of the group. “You think you can just walk away? Not today.”
Physical and Emotional Torture
The torment started slowly, with taunts and sneers, but quickly escalated into something far more sinister. Jiho shoved her hard against the cold, unforgiving wall, and his cronies joined in, jostling her from side to side. Each push was accompanied by cruel laughter, the sound cutting through her like a knife.
Then, the hitting began. At first, it was a slap across her face, then a punch to her stomach that knocked the wind out of her. She gasped for air, but no one showed mercy. They continued to strike her, each blow pushing her closer to the edge of consciousness.
“You’re pathetic,” Jiho sneered, grabbing a handful of her hair and yanking her head back. “No one cares about you. Not here, not anywhere.”
But it wasn’t just physical pain they inflicted. The words they hurled at her stung just as deeply. Insults about her appearance, her worth, and her very existence were spat at her with venom, each one tearing away at what little self-esteem she had left.
Seok, one of the more ruthless of the group, moved in closer, his intentions even darker. His hands were rough as he grabbed at her, his touch invasive and degrading. YN tried to fight back, but she was outnumbered, overpowered, and completely terrified. The feeling of helplessness consumed her as the molestation began, her screams for help swallowed by their mocking laughter.
The Breaking Point
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, a teacher appeared, drawn by the noise. The group scattered instantly, leaving YN crumpled on the ground, shaking and crying, her body battered and bruised. The teacher’s horrified expression was the last thing she saw before her vision blurred and she slipped into unconsciousness.
When she came to, she was in the nurse’s office, the sterile smell and harsh lights assaulting her senses. The nurse’s questions and concerned voice seemed distant, muffled by the fog of pain and trauma that clouded her mind. Every inch of her body hurt, but the emotional wounds were far worse.
They asked her what happened, but YN found herself unable to speak. How could she possibly put into words the horror she had just endured? The nurse called her parents, and the rest of the day passed in a blur of uncomfortable questions and silent tears.
A Nightmare in the Dark
That night, YN lay in bed, her body aching from the brutal assault. The darkness of her room pressed in on her, and every time she closed her eyes, the events of the day replayed in vivid detail. She felt like she was suffocating under the weight of her fear and shame.
Finally, out of sheer exhaustion, she drifted into a restless sleep. As she slipped into unconsciousness, she prayed for the comfort of Hoseok’s presence in her dreams. When she found herself in the dream world, Hoseok was there waiting for her, just as she had hoped. The serene landscape was a sharp contrast to the terror she had experienced, and the sight of Hoseok brought an immediate sense of relief.
A Dream of Comfort
Hoseok’s expression was filled with sorrow as he approached her. “YN, I’m so sorry,” he murmured, pulling her into a gentle embrace. “I wish I could have been there to protect you.”
The moment his arms wrapped around her, YN broke down, sobbing uncontrollably into his chest. All the pain, fear, and humiliation she had held in came pouring out. Hoseok held her close, his touch soothing, his presence grounding her in a way nothing else could.
“I don’t know how to keep going,” she cried. “I’m so tired, Hoseok. I’m so tired of everything.”
Hoseok’s grip tightened, his voice soft and comforting. “You’re not alone, YN. You have me, and I’ll never leave you. I’ll protect you in any way I can.”
YN looked up at him, her eyes red and swollen from crying. “I wish I could stay here with you, where it’s safe.”
Hoseok’s eyes were filled with a deep sadness, but he forced a small smile. “I wish that too, but for now, I’m just glad I can be here for you like this.”
A Moment of IntimacyIn that moment, YN felt a deep yearning for comfort, not just emotionally but physically. She pressed closer to Hoseok, seeking his warmth and reassurance. Hoseok sensed her need and responded with gentle care, his hands moving to soothe her trembling form.
He kissed her forehead, then her cheeks, and finally, her lips, each kiss full of tenderness and unspoken love. YN melted into his embrace, allowing herself to be completely vulnerable with him. In this dream world, she felt safe, loved, and protected in a way she had never felt before.
Hoseok’s hands traced over her back, providing comfort and support. His touch was gentle, but it conveyed a deep intensity, a promise that he would always be there for her, no matter what.
As their embrace deepened, YN found a momentary escape from her reality, a sanctuary where she could let go of the pain and fear that plagued her. Hoseok’s presence, his love, and his touch were her only refuge in a world that had become unbearably cruel.
