CHAPTER 14

『The Host Club's Rookies and the Midterms!』

❝You're always telling me to go for it. That I can do it.❞

"OH," HARUHI AND SHINJIRO let out at the same time, seeing the midterm results.

The honor students weren't sharing first place like they were supposed to. Instead, Haruhi was ranked third and Shinjiro fourth.

'I should have studied instead of going to that concert with Hino-san...' Shinjiro thought as the rest of the host club (all of them ranking either first or second, with the exception of the twins who landed on fifth and sixth place) expressed their condolences, 'But Murata-san was so good... And he was nice enough to be honest about my new song yesterday... He was pretty weird, though,' Shinjiro then saw his senior being weird like always.

Tamaki, rumanging through a big chest with his personal things, commoner stuff and pictures of Shinjiro included, seemed very panicked, "Where is it? Where is it?! My mechanical pencil is gone...!!"

"Maybe it went on a trip," Honey exclaimed with imaginary flowers surrounding him.

Hikaru and Kaoru got to the sides of Shinjiro and Haruhi, "Why do you care about being first? It's not like you'd be expelled from school..." they pat their heads, Mori doing the same from behind them.

"But they will be expelled," Kyoya said as if it was nothing, sipping on tea, "They must share the top score in their year to keep their scholarships. They'll have to take the make-up test to improve their grades. The worst-case scenario is that they'll be expelled," he explained, "If they're lucky, they might be demoted to class D."

"Shinjiro, Haruhi!!" Tamaki appeared in front of the two honor students, "Don't fret! You'll clear the make-up, no problem! I wanted to give Shinjiro my mechanical pencil as a good-luck charm, but I can't find it! Take this instead!" he offered Shinjiro Kuma-chan.

Haruhi sweatdropped, 'Talk about favoritism,' she thought, but she couldn't help but smirk, knowing full well how the salmon pink haired male felt about their upperclassman.

"Uh, there's no need for that, Tamaki-senpai," Shinjiro said, "I don't need a good-luck charm to pass my make-up test. I failed because I wrote a part of the new song I'm composing along with the correct answer, which made the teachers take points off." (Careless mistake)

"And I forgot to fill an answer," (super careless mistake) Haruhi said, "We're sorry, but we'll have to take three days off from the club until the make-up."
