"Attention, all students!" the voice of your principal, usually monotone and emotionless, was speaking clear and loud through the speakers above the classroom door, but this time, it was carrying a hint of panic.
Strange, you thought. The principal always made sure to act and behave composed.
"Please, do not panic. Stay in your respective classroom and do not roam around! Lock the doors and do not let anyone in!" By the time, the principal's voice was overflowing with hysterical fright.
The teacher was attempting to settle you all down back into your seats as you began to stand up and talk one over each other, demanding answers, but her motions were unnoticed and to no use.
What is happening?
The report was more than weird. Everyone present in the classroom was moving around it frantically, conspiring different theories as to what's the source of all this.
"It must be some kind of training!" One voice was louder than the others and the yell was followed by a set of agreeing murmurs.
"I repeat, stay inside, lock the doors and don't pani-" the voice was abruptly cut off. Then, from the speakers came a shriek, but it wasn't as loud as the principal's voice normally speaking close to the microphone. It came a little farther from it, but still near enough for the microphone to register the sound.
Another loud terrifying yell could be heard from somewhere above your heads, coming from the classroom upstairs.
"Lock the doors!" Someone called out hurriedly.
You all knew something was happening, something not staged nor planned. Something bad.
Very bad.
The teacher was rummaging in the drawer at the teacher's desk, looking for the key with shaking hands. When she finally found it, she ran to the door.
Her hands were shaking so much she struggled to put the key in the keyhole. Outside, in the hallways, there were steps coming closer and closer in a fast pace.
The teacher finally managed to put the key in, turning it to the side. The lock clicked and she tried the doorknob - it remained shut in place.
While she did that, more loud yells and screams filled the usually boring and silent atmosphere present during the lessons. They were coming from all around, above and under.
There was something terribly wrong.
You skipped to the window to take a glance outside.
There were strange figures stumbling by. They looked normal at first glance, but upon the second one, you noticed their faces.
They seem... lifeless?
They were walking by with irregular steps and motions, swaying lightly. Their mouths hung agape and their eyes were looking out into nowhere.
Their skin... it wasn't a natural color.
More of your classmates copied your actions, looking out.
A few of them exclaimed something about monsters and an apocalypse, talking about how you were all going to die there of starvation or getting killed by one of those outside, but you paid no mind to them.
You were glued to the creatures outside, seemingly human but actually so different.
They look like... Like...
Zombies!
More of your classmates started getting aware of your surroundings. The panicky chatter was beginning to be too loud.
