Memories flashed through your mind as you ran from them, memories which made you feel uneasy. Made you feel dirty. You didn't want to remember any of those times and rather tried to focus on putting the right leg in front of the left, then left in front of right...
You were becoming tired from the extensive running.
They normally don't have so much energy. What's up with them?
The direction of your fleeing changed to downhill. The hill was steep and it didn't make it any easier for you to run. No, you needed to take extra care not to fall down.
Please, don't let them catch me. Legs, run a little faster.
You sprinted as fast as you could, yet you couldn't seem to expand the distance between you. In fact, it seemed to shrink. They were getting closer and if you don't think of something quickly, they'll get you.
I don't want them to use me again. I don't want to be touched again. I don't want-
A turn. You almost didn't make it, seeing your high speed. You could faintly hear the footsteps behind mixing along with your own thudding of feet. Incoherent screams were shouted at you.
They're coming closer too fast. I can't make it. I can't make it. I can't make it.
Panic rose within your chest. You remembered too vividly the last time and you didn't want to live through it again. You'd rather die. You'd rather stand on a street and wait until a zombie finds and eats you.
You could see the men's faces features when you turned your head already. They weren't pleased nor friendly.
"Stop, girly!" They were so near that you could make out what they yelled. "You can't run away!"
Your chest was painfully throbbing as you panted heavily. Your throat felt as if it was set on fire. Your lungs were going to burst any second if you won't stop.
Shitshitshit.
Turning to the left, you came to an abrupt stop. Caught in a pathway between two buildings, you saw it was a dead alley.
They were behind you. You hopelessly ran to the back, scratching at the bricks to try and find some way out. But to no avail. It was too high and would take too much time to climb up. Way too much time, when you didn't have any.
"Told you you can't run from us," one of the men at the beginning of the alley said. They slowed down and were walking up to you. They took their time, there was no reason to rush, after all. You couldn't run away, just like they had said. "This won't end well for you, little girl, making us run so far to get you." His voice was laced with fake sweetness and they creepily smiled at you.
"Here!" A third voice. It came somewhere from... You looked up and saw a figure reaching its hand down to you through one of the windows on the first floor of the building. Without thinking, you reached up to grab his hand. Surprised by his strength, he seemed to lift you up fairly easily and you climbed hastily inside. It was a boy, dark hair messily spreading out from underneath his cap. There was a baseball bat in his other hand.
You narrowed your eyes at him and took a step back. He cautiously shoved you to the side as he leaned out the window. "They're almost here."
He wasn't talking to you. You noticed there was another figure in the room, a tallish boy with brown curls and glasses. He walked up to the boy from the room's corner's shadow and leaned out of the window as well. Confusion etched on the two boys' faces.
"You were running from... from people?" The glasses boy turned to look at you incredulously. You didn't have enough time to answer him, the two men were already standing underneath your window.
