Quick A/N: THANK YOU @jatp_life FOR THE COMMENTS, UR MOTIVATING ME SO MUCH BABES ILYYYYY

A few months passed, and things were looking great. We'd managed to start a small farm on the fields, and the cells looked much more comfortable, with proper mattresses and even curtains for privacy. We'd ensured the entire journey from the cell block to the infirmary was safe and well lit up in case anyone took some night trips. Ray and Reggie stayed there, setting up a small bedroom in the office area. We went from having to share tiny cells with another person to feeling safe enough to have our own, and we had enough stuff to personalise them now. Julie's room had an ecstasy of books from the old library, Owen's room was filled with his drawings, Willie's had an easel in it, along with a skate board. Alex's mainly just had family photos in, along with a small desk and his journal. My room was similar, but minus the family pictures. All I had left was a picture of me and my mom, that I kept safe under my pillow. Luke's room is covered in band posters, and Caleb's room has barely changed at all. Despite all this progress, we still lost someone. Tía couldn't handle the loss of her sister any longer and took her own life about two weeks ago. It was hard to deal with, but understandable. Nobody wants to live in a world where you fear for your life with every movement you make. But things can get better. We're making it better. At least, as best as we can. Luke and I are in charge of the farm. We grow a small amount of crops, and set up a water pump using a nearby stream. This means we no longer have to leave the prison for more water, as we can just filter the water and drink it. We don't have loads, but it's enough to keep us going. "You know, I think the thing I miss most is being able to just buy lettuce from the store,"Luke stated, pulling a head of lettuce out from the ground. "Or just anything from the store. Shopping in general."

"Same,"I agreed. "I miss the simplicity. How we could do so little and get more than what we do loads for now. WiFi, god I miss WiFi." Luke smiled, chucking more lettuce at me. I threw it into the wheelbarrow and went to leave when he stopped me, hands gentle on my arm.

"Do you hate me?"

"What?" I almost laughed. "What are you on about, why would I hate you?"

"I dunno, just the way you've been acting lately. You've been ignoring me a little... I dunno." I put the wheelbarrow down, turning to face him entirely.

"I don't hate you, Luke, I don't think I ever could. It's just... I have a lot to be focusing on at the moment." Luke nodded, but was clearly not satisfied with my answer. I wanted to just pull him into a hug, tell him I love him, kiss him- no. No I don't want to. Instead, I patted his shoulder, picked up the wheelbarrow and continued on, pushing it up the hill. He didn't follow me like he usually did, he just stayed by the soiled dirt.

Once I'd washed the fresh produce and packed it away into what resembled out kitchen, I went to leave and take the wheelbarrow back when I was stopped by a small pair of hands. "Bobby?"came Owen's soft, youthful voice.

"Hey kid, you alright?"I asked, turning to face him.

"Have you seen my dad? I can't find him and I need his help to do a puzzle." I smiled.

"No I haven't, but if I come across him I'll let him know, okay?" Owen nodded, then skipped off back to the main cell area, calling out Willie's name. I turned back around and took the wheelbarrow back to the shed, where I quickly ran into Alex. "Owen's looking for you, he-"

"I need help,"he interrupted.

"Okay? What's up?" Alex took a deep breath.

"I think I'm in love with Willie."

"You're just now realising that? Dude, everyone can see you two are smitten for each other, just ask him out."

"It's not that I'm scared he's gonna reject me. I'm scared it's gonna upset Owen. What if he's upset I moved on so quick?"
