||This chapter is narrated from Wednesday's perspective||
I woke up early, feeling groggy and disoriented. As I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, I sat up in bed and yawned, taking in my surroundings. Enid was still asleep, her breathing soft and even.
Quickly, I went through my morning routine, dressing in my uniform and braiding my hair before heading to my desk to retrieve the phone Xavier had given me after the Crackstone attack.
Ever since then, I had been receiving messages from an unknown sender.
The messages were written in a cryptic, threatening tone and suggested that the sender was keeping an eye on my every move.
Is it the stalker again?
"They keep sending me pictures of dead animals with my name on them" I replied.
You should tell Enid
"No" I answered.
Why are you so persistent on keeping her in the dark? She's your friend
"I don't want to worry her for this, is really unnecessary" I said, trying to brush off the concern.
This is serious, what if something happens to you?
"I can handle this" I said, although I wasn't entirely convinced myself.
"Wednesday?" Enid murmur while she rubbed her sleepy eyes.
I rapidly hide the phone and stand up to be in the middle of our room.
"Miserable Morning" I said
"Eh? Good- I mean Miserable Morning to you too" Enid mumbled
I nodded and made my way to the door. As I opened it, Enid called out to me.
"Hey, Wednesday, wait up" she said, still sounding groggy.
I turned around to face her and saw that she had sat up in bed.
"What happen?" I asked.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"Yeah, why do you ask?" I replied trying to seem casual.
"I don't know...you just seem a little off" she said, her brow furrowing with concern.
"You worry over nothing, now get ready before is too late" I said
Enid looked at me skeptically for a moment before finally nodding her head and getting out of bed. While I waited for her I began to wondered if I was doing the right thing by keeping her in the dark about the messages I had been receiving.
As we made our way to class, I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching us.
My senses were on high alert, and every little sound made me jump.
"Wednesday?" Enid noticed my unease
"I'm fine" I replied
Enid didn't seem entirely convinced, but she let the matter drop and we continued on to the classroom.

The rest of the day passed by in a blur of classes and assignments, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
"Wednesday let's go to see Lily!" Enid said
I nodded and followed Enid out of the classroom, my mind still preoccupied with the threatening messages I had been receiving.
"Hello Ann we came to see Lily!" Enid said with excitement
"I'm sorry but I fear you won't be able to see her today" Ann answered
"Why is that?" I asked
"Lily has been taken to the hospital" Ann replied with a grave expression.
Enid gasped and put a hand over her mouth.
"Oh no, is she okay?" Enid asked, looking worried.
Ann shook her head.
"I don't have any details yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I hear something" she said.
"We'll come back later to check on her" I said.
Enid nodded, still looking upset.
As we get back to our room, my mind was racing with possibilities.
Was Lily's crisis related to the threatening messages I had been receiving? I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.
Enid must have noticed something because as soon we enter our room she confronted me.
"Wednesday what's wrong?" she asked.
"Nothing" I answered as I watched Thing go out on the balcony, that coward.
"Wednesday, I know something is wrong! I can smell it!" Enid said, her voice laced with concern.
"I'm okay and what do you mean you can smell it?" I asked, trying to brush off her observation.
"It's a werewolf thing" Enid replied with a small smile. "But seriously, what's going on? You seem really upset"
I stayed silent
"Look I won't make you tell me but just know that whatever mess you're in, I'm here for you" Enid said, her tone gentle and reassuring.
"Thanks Enid, I will keep it in mind" I said looking directly at her beautiful blue eyes.
Enid smiled at me and gave a nod, then called out Thing to come inside. The two of them began to play some game I don't understand.
As I sat on my bed and watched Enid playing with the Thing, her words echoed in my mind and a warm feeling spread through me. I realized that having someone to confide in might be a little tolerable if that someone is Enid.
