||This chapter is narrated from Enid's perspective||
The soft morning light filtered through the window, gently waking me from my dreamless slumber. As I stretched and yawned, the events of yesterday quickly flooded back into my consciousness.
I glanced at the clock on the wall, realizing that it was almost time to meet Alex in Jericho.
Wednesday was already up, engrossed in a book, her slender fingers turning the pages with a quiet intensity.
"Morning, Wednesday" I greeted with a soft smile.
She looked up from her book, her dark eyes meeting mine. "Hi Enid, you woke up just in time"
"I will get ready fast!" I said as I rummaged through my clothes, I couldn't help but think about how Wednesday had opened up to me in a way that surprised me, and the vulnerability she had shown last night touched my heart.
After selecting a comfortable outfit, I quickly changed and brushed my hair. With a last glance at the mirror, I turned to Wednesday. "Ready to head out?"
She nodded, standing up from her bed "Always, let's go."
We left the safety of our dorm and made our way to the café where we were to meet Alex. The air outside was crisp, and the streets were slowly coming to life as people bustled about, beginning their day. Wednesday walked beside me, her presence a reassuring comfort.
As we entered the café, I spotted Alex sitting at a corner table, his dark hair catching the light as he typed away on his laptop. He looked up as we approached, a warm smile crossing his face.
"Enid, it's so good to see you again!" he greeted, standing up and giving me a hug
"Hi Alex, I missed you" I replied, returning the hug.
As Alex and I shared our warm greeting, I suddenly heard Wednesday clear her throat rather conspicuously, effectively interrupting the hug without saying a word. I turned to her, a bit surprised, and raised an eyebrow.
"Sorry to interrupt your lovely reunion, but I didn't come for a friendly meeting" Wednesday said coldly, her eyes fixed on Alex.
"Certainly, you must be Wednesday" he acknowledged. We took our seats, and Alex closed his laptop, giving us his full attention.
"Enid has briefed me on the situation. I've reviewed the messages you provided, and I believe there's a possibility of tracking them down. I have contacts skilled in online security and tracking, and they owe me a few favors. With their assistance, we might be able to trace the source or identify a pattern." Alex explained.
"That would indeed be a significant step forward" I responded with enthusiasm.
Alex's expression turned serious. "However, be aware that this type of investigation carries risks. If the stalker is sophisticated, they may detect our efforts to trace them and could escalate their actions."
"So, it's like walking a tightrope" Wednesday commented.
"Exactly" Alex confirmed. "We must proceed with caution and a well-thought-out strategy. And should we uncover a lead, we'll need to act swiftly."
Wednesday and I exchanged a knowing glance, and our synchronized nods conveyed our unwavering commitment.
"We understand the risks. We're prepared for it." I affirmed firmly.
Alex's gaze met mine, determination shining in his eyes. "Good. I'll contact them to kickstart the investigation. While we delve into this, please continue gathering any information you can, and Enid please be careful"
"Rest assured" Wednesday chimed in confidently.
"I won't allow any harm to come her way" she affirmed, her determination echoing through her words.
My cheeks flushed with a light shade of red, I couldn't help but wonder about the unfamiliar feeling welling up inside me.
What was this emotion that seemed to dance in the air, unspoken yet palpable?
It was a question that lingered in my mind.

As Wednesday and I left the café, we unexpectedly encountered Yoko. Her face lit up with a warm smile as she spotted us.
"Hey, you two!" Yoko greeted us cheerfully.
"Hi, what are you doing in Jericho?" I asked
"The principal gave everyone permission to come here if needed, so you're a lucky pair; you won't be scolded for getting out here." Yoko replied with a mischievous grin.
"What caused it?" Wednesday asked
"Well, now the kids will be sleeping in one of the rooms of the pair of students that is in charge of them. This is because the school is afraid what happened with Lily will happen to another kid." Yoko explained
"It's a wise decision" Wednesday remarked.
"Yeah, so I came to Jericho to buy some stuff to prepare my room" Yoko explained.
"I see, we'll also need to buy things for Lily. Wednesday, we should go shopping with—" I was interrupted.
"Shopping is a torture I don't enjoy; go with Yoko. Thing and I will prepare the room for Lily" Wednesday said
"Okay! Be careful" I replied.
"I will...I suggest you do the same. I would be disappointed if you get injured..." Wednesday said and then she quickly left.
"So you and Wednesday," Yoko said with a smile
"What do you mean?" I asked, puzzled.
"Oh, Enid, you're oblivious" Yoko chuckled.
"Wait, Yoko, don't go without me and tell me what you mean!" I exclaimed as I ran to catch up with her.
And so, our evening in Jericho continued with mysteries to unravel and responsibilities to fulfill.
