Julie enters her house calmly and sets her bag down on the couch. She puts her hair down and puts the pony tail around her wrist. She walks in to the kitchen and opens the fridge to pull out a jug of orange juice. She closes the fridge and scans the pictures stamped on the fridge with magnets, specifically the one of her mother.
"I miss you.." she mumbles as she places her thumb on her mother's picture.
She sets down the cup of orange juice and sits on the counter and notices a folder. She looks around and notices her Dad's car keys and badge on the far end of the counter.
He must be home early.
She creeps over to the folder and sees the label marked Vasquez & Woods marked on the side of it. She gulps and slowly opens the folder. She closes her eyes at the images inside. Disturbing images show Angie's bloody corpse dangling from the broken window, her cracked cell phone shoved into her wound. Julie slides the photo aside, only to encounter a shot of Lena's body smothered into the garage door. Her intestines are dangling like vines from her slit stomach. Blood is splattered all over the floor. She gags at the sight, and again, pushes the image to the side. She continues to scan the images, revealing the girls' bloody cell phones smashed into pieces around them. She looks up and spots her father watching her from the doorway. Startled, she closes the folder and slides it to the other side of the counter.
"You shouldn't have seen those." her father says.
"I know, I'm sorry. How come you have these?"
"The department made this my case." he says walking towards Julie.
"Yeah, the whole school feels like death." she says folding her arms.
"I figured. This murder is really odd, though."
"Yeah Dad, it resembles death scenes from horror movies." she says awkwardly.
"I was just about to say that. The bodies were found with Ghostface masks on their faces. It was really weird when we got there. One of the neighbors said his car alarm went off in the middle of the night. He thought it was a stray cat that set it off, but apparently it was the girl getting butchered on top of it."
Julie covers her mouth. She grabs her orange juice and takes a sip of it. She sets it down and looks at her father again with a saddened expression.
"Do you have any suspects?"
"No, not yet. This was just out of the blue, so we have yet to even find a motive." he says opening the folder.
"Well, Dad, are you still picking up my dress tonight?" He looks up from the folder and smiles at her.
"Yes, sweetie. I have to do some work with this file first, then I'll head to the store." he picks up the folder and starts towards the doorway, but is interrupted by Julie's arms as she pounces on him.
"Is it okay if Dana comes over so she can help me put it on?" she says, hugging on her Dad tightly.
"Of course, darling. Come on, let me go. I have to work on this. I love you."
"I love you too Dad. Thank you!" she says. He smiles at her and heads off to his office next to the living room. She grabs her cellphone and texts Dana.
"hey, my dad says you can come over. so like come over in a few mins" she types. She hits send and gets an almost instant reply.
"okay girl. be there in a few." Julie locks her phone and walks over to the couch.
She looks out of the window and watches the clouds float over her. She sits back and turns on the television. The first thing that is on is a news report on Angie and Lena's brutal murders. She changes the channel, only to view another news report on it. She finally goes to her channel guide and notices Stab is on HBO. Julie hesitates, but finally deals with the unrest feeling she has and begins to watch it. As the movie unfolds, Julie becomes less interested and falls asleep. She sluggishly lays on her side, covering her eyes with her arm.
