The sun rises from the cloudy abyss in the sky with a bright and happy flash. Ding. Ding. Ding. Julie slams the alarm and gets up in her usual sluggish way and makes her way to the bathroom. She again turns on the faucet and begins to splash her face with water. As the water continues to flow, it grows redder and redder. Julie looks at the blood red water and raises her eyebrow in shock. She looks up at the mirror and screams as the masked killer swipes his blade at her. She closes her eyes, waiting for her demise. But nothing happens. She opens her eyes and sees nothing but the clear water running down on the sink. She shakes her head and continues to splash her face with water.
With black shoes and a pair of jeans, Julie strolls down the stairs with her cell phone in hand. With each step, she looks closer and closer at the window and notices Dana's car outside. She raises her eyebrow in confusion and walks to the kitchen, where her father is serving her a bowl of cereal.
"Hey Dad, did Dana leave last night?" Julie asks grabbing the bowl.
"Yeah, I heard her car turn on and saw it pull off. Why?" he says.
"Well.. her car is still out there." Julie says biting into her crunchy cereal.
"Uh?" says her father. Julie walks out of the kitchen with the bowl in her hand as Mr. Borne follows. Julie looks at her father with eyes of concern, and slowly turns the door knob. First, she spots the pool of blood and the streaks that ran down the side of the driveway. As she makes her way down the leaked stains, she widens her eyes in horror. She drops her bowl of cereal and screams. She falls to the ground, shrieking in pain and fear. Her father runs back in to the house and grabs his radio from his uniform.
"Dana!" she screams. "No, Dana! No, God!" Hair entangles her palms as she pulls at it, choking on her own tears. She crawls down the driveway, shaking in terror and confusion. Why Dana? Why her best friend?
As she reaches the other side of the driveway, she sees a message written in blood.
"She hung up."
Julie covers her mouth as she screams. She holds her face as the painful tears drop on the concrete. She begins to hold her stomach as she cries and cries her heart out. Suddenly, her cell phone begins to ring. It's Dana's ringtone.
With all her anger, she puts the phone to her ear and answers.
"Who are you?" she sobs, wiping the snot from her face.
"I am the fear that lives inside of you when the lights turn off at night. I am the fear that lives in the darkest corners in your head. I am coming for you Julie. This sequel is going to be a hit." the voice responds.
"This isn't a fucking movie, you asshole! My Dad's going to find you. He's a cop and he'll shoot that stupid smirk off your face!" screams Julie. Her father walks out of the house, covering his mouth at the sight of Dana's mutilated body. He walks over to Julie slowly.
"Oh, it is. You're the starring role. And of course he is, we'll see what page his character makes a sharpened cut in the script." he giggles. Julie widens her eyes and end the phone call. Her father bends down and comforts his fear-stricken daughter.
"Who was that?" he asks as he holds Julie.
"It was him. He killed Dana and Lena and Angie." she says as she sobs on his chest. "He called Dana and I last night but we didn't tell you because we thought he would leave us alone if we didn't answer the phone. I'm sorry Dad."
"Oh god, sweetie. You should have told me. Where did he call you from?" he says as he grabs Julie's phone.
"He called from Dana's phone. And last night, he texted us from Angie's phone." she cries. He shakes his head.
