"Is she really absent again?
" Principal Howard says slamming his hands on his desk. "God damn it, this girl has been absent at least once every week this whole year!""I understand, sir. But she is in the hospital right now. She got into a serious car accident." Ms. Leslie says, holding a blue folder in her hand. Her glasses slide off her face as she looks down at Principal Howard.
"Okay? You don't drive with your legs. She can walk, so she can come to school." he scowls.
"Sir, it isn't what you think.."
"Whatever. You're dismissed. Call in that kid who shit in his locker."
Ms. Leslie nods and walks out of his office, gently closing the door behind her. Howard scoots back in his chair and puts his feet on the desk, smiling. His office is full of pictures of his alumni; one is a picture of him when he was younger. Acne, braces. Damn, he was dorky.
Reese opens his locker, pulling out The Woodsboro Murders out of it. He slides it in his armpit as he grabs a white binder. He closes the door and looks beside him, jumping at what is in front of him.
"John?" he says in a timid voice."Relax, man. I'm not here to make fun of you. I need to talk to you." he says. He's wearing the same letterman Marcus wore the day Dana was murdered and a pair of blue jeans: the typical jock outfit, of course.
"Right. Actually, I needed to talk to you." he says. He grabs The Woodsboro Murders and waves it in front of John's face. In confusion, John scratches his head. "Damn it, John. It's the same thing you wanted to talk about! Julie!"
"Right. Uh, is she okay? Marcus texted me last night saying he went to go see Julie at the hospital."
Reese stares at John in confusion. He stops waving the book and folds his arms, looking at him with a frown.
"That's impossible." he says, shaking his head.
"Why is that impossible? He knows how much I love her, so I just wanted to know what happened to her. Is she going to be okay?"
"This isn't good." Reese says shaking his head even faster.
"What the fuck?"
Reese stops shaking his head and looks at John straight into the eyes.
"Marcus is dead."
