Three o'clock in the afternoon. Clear Creek students quickly disperse from the school and to their homes, fearing who will drop dead next. Reese has the keys to his car in his hands as he walks down the empty parking lot, his car being the only one there. Posters and flowers surround the exit, all with pictures of their deceased alumni: Angela Vasquez, Lena Woods, Dana Stevens, Sasha Banks, and the recently announced Marcus Lloyd and Brooke Lawrence. As Reese approaches his car, Dean appears from behind his car, smiling. Startled, Reese smiles back.
"Hey, Dean." he says awkwardly.
"Hey Reese. Have you heard anything from Julie? She's been gone for a while." he says.
"Yeah, she's fine. I'm pretty sure she's coming back later this week."
"Oh okay. What about John? He wasn't in class with me, and today's the game."
"See, I don't really know about him either."
"Oh, well-"
"Actually. Listen, promise not to tell anyone?" Reese says. Dean nods.
"Okay, well uh, he went missing. And you know the whole serial killer thing going on? I think he's the one behind his disappearance."
"What? How do you know?"
"He's somewhere, I just know it. But the killer is still holding him hostage. The cops are still looking everywhere for him. Julie's worried sick."
"That's insane! Poor Julie. I know how much she cares about him. You can see it in her eyes."
Reese grabs the handle of his car, opening it.
"Well, it was nice talking to you, Dean." he says getting into his seat.
"Yeah, you too. See you at the game?" he asks walking backwards.
"Nah, probably not. Football isn't really my thing." he says.
"Alright. Well, I'll see you later. Bye!" he says waving as Reese pulls out from his parking space. They wave again, and Dean is left alone in the lot. It's pretty cloudy outside. Dean starts back towards the school, his hands in his pocket. After a long walk, he reaches the entrance of the gym to the far left of the football field. As he reaches for the handle, his cell phone begins to buzz in his pocket. Startled, he grabs his phone and looks at his screen.
Someone with a blocked number is calling him.
