Sachi
While the others were running around and playing, Hana and I decided to make some treats for them.
I looked at the taiyaki pan. "Hey Hana, who gave us this?"
"Oh, Ms. Asanaka went around to ask some people to see if we could use the stuff they left."
"And they were fine with it?"
She nodded. "As long as we don't break it or anything, it's fine." She looks at the taiyaki pan and flips. "Yosh..."
I flipped mine as well. "This is my first time making taiyaki."
She chuckled. "Well, I guess we're in the same boat then."
After a while, she opened her pan and sighed. "It's all ruined..."
I looked at her taiyaki and saw how it all broke apart when she opened it. "Maybe you didn't cook it long enough?"
"Maybe."
I opened mine and looked at it. "Is this good?"
"Hmm...huh? Sugoi!"
"Really?"
"It has a perfect shape and design; it's intact and it's not burnt or raw! How do you do it so well?"
"Well...I don't know myself..."
"Alright! You're going to teach me!"
"Eh? But-"
"Come on...you're good at art, right? This is pretty much your expertise."
"I...guess?"
She grabbed the taiyaki and wrapped it in paper. "Yosh! That's one."
She hands it to me and I take it. "So...we're just leaving this to the side?"
"What? No! It's better when it's fresh! You can eat it, or...give it to someone else."
"Someone else..." I looked around, then I saw Takuya and Izumi.
Hana chuckled. "Those two are precious..."
"What makes you say that?"
"They've been childhood friends for years, but...I can see how close they really are. I mean, it's no secret that she likes him."
"Izumi likes Takuya?"
She nodded. "But...even after rejecting her, they're still friends."
"I see. Wait...what?"
"Oh! Um...nothing!"
I stared at her, then I looked back at Takuya and Izumi. "Hana."
"Hm?"
"Your taiyaki is burning."
She looks at her pan. "Shimatta!"
She sighed. "Another one bites the dust..."
I laughed. "You can always keep trying." I opened my pan and showed it to Hana. "See?"
"How do you-" She grunted. "You...really are special, you know that?"
"I mean...it's really easy when you think about it."
"Uh huh..."
"Look, how about you just watch me do it and see if you can do it afterwards."
She sighed and crossed her arms. "Proceed."
I poured the batter and filling, then I closed the pan and began baking it. After a while, I opened it and showed it to her.
"Here it is."
"Gosh, you're really good at this. If this Grid Alliance doesn't work out, we can always open a bakery."
"Yeah...sure..."
"Alright, I think I got it."
She did exactly as I showed her and after a while, we opened the pan and looked at it.
"Wow, that one looks good!"
"Does it really...?"
"I mean...it is missing some eyes."
She sighed. "I'm never going to get good at this..."
"It's alright. Besides, we already have enough."
"What do you mean by-" She turned around and was surprised. "W-Wait, how did we get this many?!"
"I cooked them while you were making yours."
"That quick?! And not only that, weren't you watching me?"
"Well, I was, but at one point, I saw that you were getting there on your own, so I thought I might as well make some more for the others while we waited."
She grunted. "Sachi..."
"Um...gomen...Hana..."
She took her taiyaki and took a bite of it. "Hot, hot!"
I laughed nervously at her. "Careful. Let's wrap these up for them."
"I can do that. Here." She took two taiyaki that were already wrapped and handed them to me.
"What for?"
"Give them to our friends."
I stared at it. "Well...I don't know who..."
"Hmm...hey, how about Takuya and Izumi? They sure have been walking around a lot."
"You...want me...to give this...to Takuya...?"
"And Izumi." She tilted her head. "Is something wrong?"
"N-No. I can do that."
She stared at me, then looked away. "Alright then."
I let out a sigh of relief. I'm glad she didn't notice it. Actually...why...am I-
"Hey Hana, Sachi." I turned around and saw Izumi and Takuya. "You two are making taiyaki?"
"Nope." She points at me. "She made all of this. Quite incredible actually."
"Hana, I'd say you did some too."
"I did it like three times and the last one was almost perfect..."
"Hana, is it just because you can't co-"
She glared at Takuya. "One more word Hibiki Takuya. One. More."
"...Gomen..."
Izumi and I laughed. "Well, is there any for us to try?"
"Here." I handed them the two taiyaki. "I was just about to give them to you."
"Arigatou, Sachi!"
"Arigatou, Shinjo-san."
"Yeah...no problem..."
