I was still angry when I left the house.
I took the subway and for once, the silence that pervaded the carriages got on my nerves. I wanted to scream, so I tried to focus on the sound of the train on the tracks.
Finally, I got to Shibuya, I took the Hachiko exit, and found myself in front of the big crossing. The amount of people that flocked to this area of Tokyo was incredible and I understood why it was also a major tourist destination; I had to admit that despite the confusion, it had its charm. I'd sent a message on our group chat, asking if anyone wanted to hang out. After the fight with my brother, I needed some fresh air.
Arisu was the first to answer; he said he had a bad day too and was in Shibuya with his best friends. He wrote to join him and then, we'd go somewhere. I'd only seen Karube and Chota a couple of times, but I liked them, so I said it was fine.
Then, my best friend Kuina also replied, saying that she was in the area and therefore she'd come.
Lastly, he answered too. I hadn't seen Chishiya since the day before and he was the reason that had triggered the quarrel between me and Niragi.
Only later on, did I realize that he too was in the chat and therefore, in all likelihood, he would have seen the message. In fact, after a few minutes he answered, saying that he was already there.
His message pissed me off a lot. Couldn't he just leave me alone for a few hours?
He had already told me over and over again that he didn't approve of my choice that very morning, and I didn't want to start the discussion one more time in front of my friends. And especially not in front of Chishiya, or between him and Niragi it wouldn't have ended well. Having an older brother was, sometimes, a big pain in the ass (well, technically I should say step-brother, but the pain is the same, I guess).
I looked for him in the crowd; it took me a while but spotted his unlikely shirt. He was leaning against a railing and I noticed he was looking at his cell phone, then he shook his head and started scanning that sea of people.
I went to the other side and bumped into a guy in a straw hat, who along with a tall man with short hair, were coming out from a shop.
As I walked, I saw Arisu in the distance on Karube's shoulders, who was acting stupid in the middle of the crossing. I held back a laugh and for the second time, collided with a person, this time a tall girl with a bob and a white blouse.
Suddenly, I remembered the great discovery I had made that afternoon, just before leaving the house. I couldn't wait, so I decided to write a message in the group chat (also knowing that it would have made Niragi even angrier).
Video games, lately, were the only thing he and I had in common, and one in particular, the one we were all playing at that moment, was the one that made us meet our friends (they were more my friends actually, but since my brother was also a Borderland fan, we had added him to the group).
I opened the chat on Whatsapp and started writing, while I kept walking.
"I found the Easter Egg. 😎" I typed.
I was very sure that I'd have made everyone envious, especially Arisu, who was my toughest opponent.
I hit "Send" and when I looked up from the phone, it all happened very quickly.
I hadn't realized I was in the middle of the crossing, and it wouldn't have been a problem if the light had been green.
I saw Arisu, Karube and Chota, running inside the subway and when I turned around, a car hit me.
Then, the dark.
It all started/finished in Shibuya so this is where we start again....Ready?? Well, let's hit the GAME START then!
