KUINA'S POV

I had just arrived at the crossroad when I read Kiyo's message and replied asking why she hadn't waited for us.

As soon as I looked up from the phone, I witnessed a terrible scene.

I saw Kiyo in the middle of the intersection, in her signature red t-shirt and baggy black pants that she adored, staring at her phone. She hadn't realized that the green for pedestrians had long since run out; the cars try to dodge her as best they could, but one of them failed to swerve in time and ran into her.

Kiyo raised her head, but that gesture wasn't enough to avoid the impact; she was thrown a meter up and fell to the ground, unconscious.

Soon after, two cars collided with each other, but I didn't have time to think about the chaos that was being created; I immediately ran towards Kiyo and crouched next to her. I felt her pulse right away and luckily it was pretty loud, but my best friend was still.

Shortly after, I saw Niragi arrive and crouch on the other side of Kiyo, with tears in his eyes. It was the first time I'd seen him cry.

"Ki-Kiyo." He said between sobs.

The driver of the car had stopped and had already called an ambulance.

"Rescue is on the way." He said as we approached. "I'm so sorry! She came out all of a sudden in front of me and I couldn't stop."

"You!" Niragi stood up, livid with rage and his face red from crying. He grabbed the driver by the shirt and was about to punch him when Chishiya, who came from who knows where, stopped him.

He looked shocked and even though he was holding Niragi with all his strength, his gaze was only for Kiyo.

"Let go of me!" Niragi freed herself from his grip. "And don't touch her!"

Chishiya, as usual, ignored him and leaned down, sitting next to Kiyo and taking her hand.

"The ambulance?" He asked me.

"Is coming."

"Are you deaf Chishiya? I told you not to touch her." Niragi glared at him.

"I heard you." And he squeezed Kiyo's hand even tighter. "You should stop making this scene, it won't help to wake her up."

Chishiya's calmness was amazing, even though I was sure he was deeply worried about his girlfriend.

"I swear I-" Niragi approached him and a fight would have broken out if the ambulance hadn't arrived right then.

"Stop it!" I screamed.

"Kiyo! No!" Arisu came running, making his way through the crowd that had formed, followed by his two friends.

Meanwhile, the paramedics got out of the ambulance with a stretcher, then told us to move and put a neck collar on Kiyo.

"We'll take her to the hospital right away." One of them said. "Come to the emergency room and they will tell you which ward she will be sent to."

Having said that, they put Kiyo on the stretcher and took her to the ambulance, which immediately left with the siren on.

"Let's go." Niragi and Chishiya said at the same time, exchanging a hostile look afterward.

"Let's take the subway, we'll get there sooner." Arisu said.

"Arisu, let us know how she's doing." One of Arisu's friends, the blond one, looked at him and put a hand on his shoulder. "I don't think we should come too..."
