Vivien Heartstring (P.O.V.)

A month had passed since Smoke's death, and it didn't get any easier. We moved from one point to the next, dodging Zila's werewolves as we left her territory. We made our way towards the place Xalva had told us that the Lunar pack was desperately searching.

We could see that the street was closed and hear howls echoing from the woods. It had snowed recently up here so April's scent and tracks were missing. Kane had thought it was a good idea to rent out a hotel room and since then we've been held up in the same hotel room.

The boys allowed me to have the bed while they took the floor and couch. Kane had been gone all day with Kyrillos and Dwyn. Their dark furs would help them hide among the trees and bushes from the werewolves of the Lunar pack. Xalva had told us that the Eclipse and Shadow pack had merged into the Lunar Pack, leaving us to wonder how much of a threat this new pack was to the Louisiana Pack and April.

"Hey, Viv! Guess what we found!" Kyrillos shouted in excitement as he came into the room.

I looked over at Kyrillos, noticing his excited grin and how bubbly he was, but I couldn't muster up the excitement he felt. Adrien looked at me for a few minutes from where he sat beside the bed and then looked at Kyrillos.

"What did you find?" Adrien asked as I rolled over in the bed, so my back faced them.

"We found blood and a log just like Vivien told us we would find when we reached where April had her children! The blood doesn't hold many scents, but from what we could gather, it was April's blood. We hid her scent under our scents, so the Lunar Pack won't be able to find her scent and figure out where she went as well! Isn't this amazing? We're one step closer to finding April and going back home!" Kyrillos blurted excitedly as he plopped onto the bed.

"Don't get your hopes up. I can't even find her through my projection magic anymore." I muttered from under the sheets.

I groaned in frustration as Kane pulled the sheets off me. He leaned down and lifted me into a sitting position. I sighed as he kneeled to my eye level.

"Vivien, you can't give up hope. This is the first good news we've had for a month. We need to be hopeful that April is alive so we can get her away from here as fast as we can and back to the Louisiana Pack's territory. You'll both be safe there until we can secure a ship to take both of you to the island you guys are trying to get back to." Kane said as he gave me a gentle smile.

"Fine. I'll try to be a bit hopeful that we'll find her, and I'll be able to get back to Arilis before I draw my last breath." I sighed as I stood up.

"You'll be able to even if I have to make sure you can get there safely." Kane said with a smile as he stood up.

Kane's phone began to ring, and he looked down at it. He glanced around the room and walked over to the window to answer it, knowing we all would want to listen to the call anyways. He unlocked his phone and answered the phone.

"Yes, Alpha Xalva?" Kane asked as he put the phone on speaker.

"Kane, the Alina Island Werewolves are going to arrive at the hotel you are staying at soon. They told me they weren't too far off from the road that the Lunar Pack has shut down. Zackery Prowler is with them. Do not mention his age at all. He might see it as a threat and from what one of his members said, he killed the previous alpha at the age of seven. I do not need any of your bodies sent home in bags." Xalva spoke from the phone.

"Understood Alpha Xalva. We've also discovered something on our search today. April did indeed have children, but the scent that was left behind was stale and might be hard to follow. We're at least a month behind her right now, but we'll catch up soon." Kane reported as he glanced back at everyone.
