Vivien Heartstring (P.O.V)
As we entered Arilis through the tunnel, I heard a roar that sounded like April's. There was the strong scent of blood and the distinct scent of vomit in the air too. I was leaning against Isabella as we filtered in and headed into the giant pearl room. The giant pearl room looked withered with age and some of my carvings in the walls had been destroyed. I limped over to the roots my spell book had been hidden away in, noticing it was still there. The witches had not caught on. I looked towards Isabella, and she looked at me.
"Can you part the roots? I would, but if I did that right now, I'd pass out before I could help finish the spell." I spoke as I glanced towards the tunnel leading up.
Artemis had two people stationed as guards at the tunnel and four people guarding the main door. Everyone else was getting checked for injuries before they could head up the tunnel and join back into the fight. Artemis approached us and held onto me while Isabella used a spell to part the roots. She reached in, grabbing out the spell book, and sat down by the roots. Artemis helped me sit down before heading up the tunnel herself to go fight.
Isabella placed the book in front of us, showing me the spell that I began to write when I was way younger. I sighed and read each line beginning to figure out how I had written it so many years ago. Isabella waited patiently until I began to mutter what else we could use. She looked at me with a raised brow, not able to understand me.
The spell was in Greek, but I was able to change it to Latin easily. It seemed Isabella didn't know Latin though. I sighed and began to mutter it in Greek. She slowly nodded, getting the understanding of the spell. As we worked, April walked in, blood dripping down her chin.
"What are you guys doing in here?" She asked.
"We're working on a spell Grand aunt had begun back when she lived here in Arilis." Isabella told April.
"The Tallanser Elder spell?" April asked curiously.
"Yes..." I said as I glanced around the room.
How was April able to read Greek and how much did she know about the spell? This spell was not an easy one and had very complicated spells integrated into it. It contained spells of nature's magic as well as blood spells. April nodded and took off through the tunnel, leaving us to work.
As soon as we finished the spell, we heard the doors above fall to the ground. Someone had knocked the doors out. Angry shouts filled the air and Isabella stood quickly. I struggled to my feet, moving to grab my sword.
As I watched, two of the four guarding the doorway to the room, fell to the ground screaming in pain. The fire was swarming their bodies and as I watched, helpless to end their suffering, they died.
A man with black hair and blue eyes walked in followed by two witches. The man used a sword to decapitate one of the guards while one of the witches used an arrow to stab into the other guard's eye. I watched as both fell and tried to move Isabella towards the tunnel.
"Get out of here, Isabella. Take the spell book and run. Find April and tell her what is going on." I said in Greek, holding my sword up.
Before I could blink, one of the witches used a telekinesis spell on the arrow. It whizzed towards Isabella and only one word sprung to my mind.
"No!" I shouted, running to block Isabella.
My eyes widened as pain lashed through me. I reached up to my left side, feeling something wet sliding down my side. I took a deep breath, feeling the pain lash through my side. Isabella was holding me, staring at me with tears in her eyes.
