With a slight smile, I slowly opened my eyes and straightened my back while also stretching my hands out to the sides. When I saw Daniyal to my left, I quickly composed myself."Daniyal, I'm starving."
"Why didn't you eat before you left your college?" Daniyal irritatedly asked.
"You refused to let me eat. You called while I was on my way to the canteen and asked me to come out right away." I huffed and folded my arms.
"We are far too late it's five o'clock now.
You should have eaten before leaving,
but you didn't. It's your fault." answered Daniyal."Are you even serious?" I yelled at Daniyal.
"You better stop at a restaurant immediately. Daniyal." I retaliated in a furious manner.
"Stop yelling at me. Zahra, I'm not your personal assistant here." Daniyal retorted angrily.
I noticed a food stall when I looked forward.
"Daniyal, Stop the car." I said as I
turned to face him.Daniyal retorted irritably, "I said I won't, Zahra."
"YOU BUFFOON! Are you stopping or am I going to call Dada Jaan?" I retaliated in a furious manner and started shaking his arm vigorous manner.
"What are you? Six?" Daniyal asked, looked irritably at me.
I jerked forward as he abruptly stopped the car.
"Jerk"
"You better watch your tongue, Zahra" Daniyal retorted angrily.
I hurried towards the food stall while
sticking my tongue out at him and
opening the car door.Daniyal's POV
Where did I get myself into?
I cried and rested my head on the steering wheel continued cursing my fate.
A honk broke me out of the trance and I realised it's a No Parking Area and the car was low on fuel so I decided to fill up the tank. I searched for a near by filling station and found one about a kilometre away. So I texted Zahra.
I'm going to nearby filling station.
Wait up here.Okay Monkey :D
Can she get more irritating!
I huffed in annoyance. I turned the car on and drove away.
Zahra's POV
Street food are blessings!
I closed my eyes and enjoyed the mouthwatering aroma of savory street cuisine. These are something I can never get enough of.
I finished eating and waited for Daniyal on the sidewalk.
Why is this guy taking so long?
I started walking on the side walk slowly. I decided to text him and ask where he was. I turned on my phone and saw the battery is dead.
Damn my life!
I came a long way and the area was less crowded. Suddenly I saw a man with a weird demeanor. He seemed to be an addict and was walking towards me.
Is he planning to kidnap me?
A fear engulfed in my chest. I envisioned every bad thing that man could do to me. I didn't look at the man as I began to move in the opposite direction. After a short while, I turned around to see the man still following me.
Panic over too me, so I started running as quickly as I could.
Ya Allah, please send someone to help me.
I begged for protection and started running as fast as I could. I suddenly ran into someone's shoulder. That person grabbed my hand to prevent me from falling to the ground.
Daniyal's POV
I had to wait more than an hour to finish filling the car up. When I arrived at that food stand, Zahra wasn't there.
Now where did that insane girl went?
When I inquired with the food stall's waiter, he informed me that Zahra had left some time ago. He pointed out to me where Zahra had gone. After I had parked, I got out and started walking in that direction.
I tried to call her up but the number was switched off. I was continuously trying to call Zahra when someone abruptly ran into my shoulder making her stumble. To stop her from falling over, I took hold of her hand.
I looked up at that person's direction and noticed Zahra. She was trembling and looked terrified. She was panting heavily as she gave me a teary-eyed expression.
I slowly walk towards her and grabbed both of her hands.
"What's wrong, Zahra?" I asked her softly.
"I...got..scared. He..followed....me." She stuttered lowering her head.
I noticed a man staring towards the direction Zahra came from. After glancing at me, he walked away from the area. Zahra continued to sob and tremble.
I shouldn't have left her alone."Zahra, You are safe now." I tried to console her by brushing my thumb over her fingers.
She lifted her head up and looked at me with teary eyes. I tried to reassure her that she was indeed secure and that man had left before letting go of her hands.
She scanned the area with her eyes before heaving a sigh of relief. I smiled at her as I extended my hand to her, and she took it after giving me a quick glance.
As we got to the car, I opened the passenger door for her and then closed it after she was comfortable.
Unexpectedly, I caught sight of a cotton candy vendor on the opposite side of the street. I walked across the street and bought some cotton candy for Zahra.
I returned and entered the driver's side. I turned to face Zahra and offered a sincere apology.
"I'm sorry, Zahra for whatever you went through today. You were my responsibility but I failed to take care of you. I sincerely hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me for what I did."
In the vain hope that she would pardon my failure, I passed the cotton candy to her.
Her eyes lit up when she saw the cotton candy. She tried to open it after taking it from me. She gestured me to open it up for her after a couple of failed attempts.
I chuckled at her as I handed her the cotton candy after opening it for her. She snatched it up and grinned as she got to eating.
"Am I forgiven, Zahra?"
"Turn on the car, monkey. We are getting late."
I smiled at her reply and drove away while shaking my head softly.
