"Shelby. Stop."

Katherine was standing in the open, in the light of the full moon - longbow in hand - looking pleadingly at Shelby.

The corrupted witch smirked at the princess, leaning on her scythe with real don't-care attitude, "Give me one good reason why,"

Shelby became aware of the rustling of leaves behind her. She had the power of the sculk on her side, she wasn't scared anymore.

"This isn't you, Shelby,"

"I've heard that one before." Shelby said impatiently, "Why are you really here, Katherine?"

Katherine took a step towards her, heart pounding in her chest.

"Now you want to join me Katherine? Why not earlier?"

"I-"

"Join me Katherine." Shelby reached out with a sculk ridden arm, "It's been written in the stars. You can't unwrite the stars,"

Shelby watched Katherine hesitate slightly but stepped again towards Shelby.

"No! Katherine!" Gem shouted from the edge of the clearing.

Katherine looked into Gem's worried face as she stepped into Shelby, trying to reassure her fellow princess that everything is going to be ok.

Gem seemed to get the message and took a step back into the foliage.

Shelby now had a firm grip of Katherine's arm and was curiously reading Katherine's body language.

She wasn't scared despite her eyes giving everything away and she didn’t even flinch when Shelby took a step closer to grab her other arm.

Shelby became aware of the sculk travelling up Katherine's arm and onto her shoulder.

Katherine didn't seem in pain at all but sort of... glad?

Then Shelby felt the sculk lose control of her for a split second as she became lost in Katherine's eyes.

Katherine stepped even closer to Shelby - the sculk was winding up her neck now - and Shelby, mesmerised, followed, not breaking eye contact with the princess.

The sculk came back in overwhelming powerful waves as Shelby felt Katherine let go of her arm and wrap it around her waist, drawing them even closer.

They both knew what was coming and neither of them drew away.

They kissed.

Once they drew away, Katherine tucked a stray hair behind Shelby's ear with a smile, "It is written in the stars,"

Shelby felt, all of a sudden, happy and bubbly. A feeling she had not felt on this scale for over a week now as she looked into Katherine's victorious brown eyes.

"The sculk! It's going!" Cried Scott as Katherine put her hand in Shelby's and the two looked around the Evermoore.

Scott was right. The sculk was slowly retreating from the remenants of the buildings and the ground, crawling back into the safety of the swampy trees.

Katherine glanced Shelby up and down and the sculk had sunk from her to the ground and was disapating with the rest of the gunk.

Shelby caught her smile and beamed, refusing to let go of Katherine's hand or Katherine's gaze.

Gem sprinted over to them and hugged them both in turn, looking them each up and down and telling them: "No sculk."

Sausage thumped them on the back heartily with a hearty laugh, nearly knocking the wind out of Shelby: "You did it!"
