~ Flashback to a few days after the announcement of Shoyo's death ~

The sound of the pouring rain hitting the window as well as the occasional rumble of thunder resonated through the room, waking up a certain raven from his slumber. The boy fluttered his eyes open, blinking a few times in a vain attempt to chase the sleep out of them. He contemplated the scene through his window in a daze, unable to block the upcoming thought that the raging storm perfectly depicts his own internal battle. The past few days passed in a blur as the black-haired male kept dozing in and out of consciousness. Kageyama couldn't really remember much, not even falling asleep, thus he guessed he passed out from exhaustion or dehydration, if not both, at some point.

The recent loss of his dear omega undoubtedly took a toll on his body, but it was nothing compared to his psychological suffering. It all felt so unreal. The thought of how four simple words could ravage his life baffled him. "He's gone sweethearts". They have been ringing in loop in his head since then and pretty much caved their way through his heart by now, their meaning re-leashing an agonising pain that was eating him alive. He felt like drowning in his own desperation.

He vaguely remembered the pained and haunted look that reflected in Kei and Tadashi's eyes at the announcement of their soulmate's death. He swore he could almost hear his heart shattering furthermore upon witnessing the torment of emotions that displayed on his two loved-one faces. He could sense the incomprehension, hurt and many more building up within the two other alphas, quickly overtaken by pure hatred and wrath towards the ones who dared to take their mate from them. Even in his current depressed state, Kageyama vividly recalled the intensity of the blonde and green-haired boys' feelings suffocating him up to the point that he couldn't decipher if they were his own or his soulmates' anymore.

For the first time in a few days, the boy managed to get out of bed, uttering a deep sigh in the process. Not even bothering with a shower, he headed towards his wardrobe and took out the first pair of pants and hoodie that he found and sloppily got ready, not even caring about the fact that the colours definitely didn't match together. Each movement felt excruciating, but that didn't stop him. He was well-aware of how abnormal it was for a eight-year old child to feel exhausted by such a simple action, but frankly he didn't have the energy to feel concerned right now. He forced himself out of his room and walked past his mother in the living room, not even saying his greeting. Again, he didn't care. Sue him for his lack of manners, he was mourning. She didn't seem to mind anyway seeing the look of agony in her son's eyes.

Kageyama opened the front door of their house, immediately being drenched by the heavy rain. He quickly closed the door behind him so that he wouldn't flood their home and settled on the porch, hugging his knees close. He roamed his eyes around realising how the rain seemed to drain all colours away. He couldn't help but wonder if the outside ever was so dull and lifeless. Yet, his train of thoughts was cut short by a flash of remembrance from a few month ago where the ginger and himself were dancing in the rain in his house's backyard while laughing their heart out. A few tears gathered in his blue eyes, clouding his vision, that soon turned into heart-wrenching sob. That's all it took to once again set a new flow of overwhelming emotions coursing through him, the one question that has been stuck at the back of his mind finally leaving his lips.

"Is a world without Shoyo really worth living in ?"

Just to clear things up, Shoyo is the younger one from the four, being only six at that point of the story. Tobio and Kei are the eldest, both being eight years old while Yamaguchi is seven. So, in the previous chapters that relate from the events occurring ten years later, Kei and Tobio are eighteen and Yamaguchi is seventeen.

There will be more action soon, but I really wanted to show the aftermath of losing someone important and how people can deal with it differently, thus the angst. Through Tobio's POV, I wanted to spread awareness of how depression can really affect someone's life and ruin them. I actually have never experienced that kind of state of mind so I hope I still managed to depicts it correctly.
