The Time Agents

Chapter 1

The machine was speeding towards the laboratory, sitting on one of the seats, agent Lena turned to her colleague sitting behind her. Around her, steel panels with numerous buttons were flashing in all directions. At the back of the machine, a visibly stunned man sat strapped into the third chair. The man looked straight out of the 1940s with his clothes.Lena glanced at the man and then at her colleague.

"Are you sure he's alive?

- Yes, don't worry, the dose of tranquilizer is not strong enough to kill him. It's just enough to knock him out for a few hours.

- To think that he almost succeeded in killing his competitor's grandfather. I can't believe how tough the competition in business is."

Miyu too glanced at the still knocked out man. Pensive, she thought for a few minutes before answering.

"It was more than competition for him. For this man, his business represented his whole life. Losing it to a competitor was something he refused to accept.

- Wasn't there an easier way?

- According to his file, not really. He has a lot of debts that he owes his competitor about a million euros. He was hoping to get rid of his debts by killing his grandfather. To do so in our time would be too risky, the police would have caught him.

- So he thought that if he at least killed his grandfather, his competitor would not be born? asked Lena.

Miyu nodded her head in agreement. She pressed her panel to direct the machine to the right time. Suddenly, the machine began to slow down, which meant the arrival of the laboratory. After a few minutes, the machine stopped in the large white room. In front of it were two policemen with some scientists. The two women carried the prisoner to the policemen who dragged him out of the room.A little further on, their superior officer was waiting for them. Agent James did not like to wait. Miyu went towards him and handed him the report. Lena quickly followed her. Agent James turned to Miyu.

"How did the mission go?- Very well sir, no mistakes.

- Good, Agent Lena you will stay with Agent Miyu and Agent Dimitrov for your next mission."

The three agents left the room and headed for a meeting room. After a few minutes of walking, they found themselves in front of a gray door. Agent James put his hand on the scanner and the door opened into a fairly large meeting room. A large round table in the middle with at least twenty chairs all but three occupied. Lena found herself between Agent Miyu and Agent Dimitrov who greeted them. On the chairs were various generals and important people from different countries. For some time now, the UN and TimeTravels have been working together for global security reasons. One thing Lena had learned in her years of service was that if Agent James could get several dignitaries from several countries to sit down, it was serious. At this point, she still had no idea what was coming next.
