The departure lounge was always a little stressful for Lena. There was always the risk that the trip would go wrong. Lena read the file on Oppenheimer one last time.

"Robert Oppenheimer, born on April 22, 1904 in New York and died on February 18, 1967, is an American physicist who participated in the Manhattan Project (atomic bomb project). He is considered the father of the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer worked in a laboratory called Los Alamos founded in 1943 (Department of Energy of the United States). It was in this lab that they created the first three atomic bombs, two of which were used to bomb the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945."

Dr. Callard made the final adjustments and gave the authorization to climb into the machine. The four agents took their seats and the machine started to move. After a few minutes the four agents were gone.

Inside the machine, the silence was heavy. Miyu was reviewing his notes while Dimitrov was looking at his screen. Agent Markus was staring at the wall as if it were the most exciting wall in the world. Lena received a message on her tablet:

[Group conversation: Dimitrov, Lena, Miyu]

[From Dimitrov]: What happened with Markus?

[From Lena]: Two years ago, Markus abandoned me on our mission. We were supposed to retrieve some documents that had been destroyed and try to recover them. Unfortunately, we got caught and had to flee. He arrived at the machine long before me but did not wait for me. It was another team that came to get me.

[From Dimitrov]: Ah the bastard! And he wasn't fired?

[From Lena]: No way! His father is the director of the TimeTravel company, so his daddy protected him.

Dimitrov looked at her with a smile

[From Dimitrov]: What if we accidentally forget him on this mission?

[From Lena]: An interesting idea, but we'd get fired and I'd like my career.

Miyu saw the messages but didn't answer, she just smiled at them. Suddenly the destination appeared on the main screen "February 1943- Laboratory Los Alamos".

[Los Alamos Laboratory - New Mexico - USA]

After putting the machine in camouflage mode, the 4 agents managed to get inside without any problem with their accreditation. Lena was with other women in an office, in front of her typewriter. With her new identity of Mary Johns, she had no difficulty with her new colleagues. Dimitrov had assumed the identity of James Miller, who was a guard. Markus now named Thomas Brown was the one closest to Oppenheimer, in fact he was studying radioactivity in their time. Miyu was the one who managed the communications outside the laboratory. Indeed it would have been complicated to explain the presence of a Japanese woman in an American laboratory.
