The Time Agents

Chapter 11

She barely had time to eat before she was speeding towards the company building. Chaos reigned inside, screams and people running in all directions pushed through the corridors. When she pushed open the doors to the meeting room, the stress was overwhelming and almost suffocating. Dimitrov, Yumi and Markus were already there, Agent James pointed to the seat next to Yumi and as soon as she sat down, James announced in a deep voice."Your identities may have been revealed.Panic gripped Lena's mind. A revealed identity is a danger for all agents, a danger she did not want to know again."Is this going to be like it was two years ago?" asked Yumi.

- Yes we still don't know exactly what information the mercenaries stole from us.

- Great, we're going to be stuck in this building again! Markus complained.He turned to Yumi and asked:

"Is that your ex-fiancé trying to get revenge again?"

A thud was heard in the room. Markus' suddenly red cheek was the result of his stupidity. Standing there, his face red with anger, Yumi's hand was gone without her realizing it. The silence settled in the room but she could not hear anything. The silence was broken again when Yumi slammed the door on her way out. Feeling the accusing glances on him, Markus lowered his eyes to the floor. Leaving the room after the meeting, Lena and Dimitrov tried to remain as calm as possible as they walked, even though their hearts were beating fast. The corridors never seemed to end and Yumi's absence was disturbing.

Suddenly, a voice they knew well was heard. When they pushed open the door to the lab, Dr. Callard was holding Yumi. Yumi's soft sobs echoed through the large lab. After a few minutes of quiet, Yumi broke away from the doctor and turned to the two agents."It is the biggest of the idiots, she says.

- He's even the biggest idiot! says Dimitrov.

- What he means is that Markus is really a heartless agent. replied Lena

- Yes, like I said, a jerk.A small smile formed on Yumi's face. Her heartbeat had slowed down a bit and calm was beginning to return to her mind. Dr. Callard cleared his throat.

"I guess he mentioned your ex-fiance of Miss Tanaka."Yumi nodded, trying to rebuke the bad memories. The doctor continued.

"I'm sure it's not about him, he's in jail now after he tried to kidnap you."

Yumi felt Lena's comforting hand on her shoulder. She took a deep breath and smiled at them. The three agents left the lab and headed to the server room to figure out what was going on. Dimitrov opened the door and the heat of the room whipped in their faces. Darkness and heat were probably the best words to describe this room. What little light there was came from small LEDs placed on the floor of the room that lit up automatically. The large server blocks were flashing in all directions. The only sounds were the blowing of the servers and the footsteps of the agents.In the center of the room was a central unit with a small computer. Lena approached it and put her hand on the scanner. After a few seconds of silence, a feminine and robotic voice was heard."Hello agent Lena, how can I help you?

- Hello Athena, run a full scan of the servers, see if anyone has hacked us.After long seconds of silence, the AI answered.

- Virus detected on a server, it contains the information of many agents.

- Probability our information has been stolen?

- The probability is 74%, however the hacking took place directly inside the company.

Yumi and Dimitrov's eyes widened, the shock was brutal and neither of them dared to speak. Lena broke the silence.

- That's what I was afraid of.
