Winter Kiss

Part 13

I had dropped Kevin at his house because he was too drunk to even walk. I decided to go somewhere I always do.
After a few minutes of walking in the snow, I reached there and looked up at the banner reading 'We are open until 1 am ONLY FOR CHRISTMAS '. I looked at my watch and it was 12:30, I shrugged and went inside getting greeted by the one and only Mother. Mother Mary, is the Mother of the Orphanage. She was angry and started to scold me "The kids were so tired of waiting for you so they slept. You always have dinner with them and this time? What happened Alex, did something bad happen? Oh, Jesus let him not be unhappy this Christmas.."

I rolled my eyes and made her sit down on the sofa and said with a smile "This Christmas was good." She looked at me and asked "Did you find a girl? Getting married?" I was shocked and said, "No it's just she is back." She got up quickly and said "Snow is back, the girl whom you used to come along and have dinner with the kids and eat cookies. Oh good lord Snow is back. My dear child is back." I chuckled and said, "She got a little version of herself."

Mary's eyes were in horror, she looked at me then at the clock, and said "Oh dear, well I don't know if I should be happy or not." I replied with a smile "Be happy, she looks like an Angel." Mary looked at me with guilty eyes then brushed my hair with her fingers and said "It's ok my boy. She was just so perfect for you. It's ok you will find someone else." I said, "I know I will find someone but she won't be Snow or I won't love her like Snow."

Mary sighed and said "Sometimes You have to leave someone even if it hurts Alex. It's the harsh truth of Love." I was lost in my thoughts again when I heard someone's voice which was familiar to me. It was Snow. Mary looked at her in surprise and went towards her and she hugged her. Snow looked at me with surprise and asked "Why are you here?" I said, "I should be the one asking that." She chuckled and said, "Well you know we used to make cookies for kids every Christmas so I thought why not give them cookies this Christmas since I was here." I smiled and said, "I visit here every Christmas for dinner with the kids, I had dinner at yours today so I couldn't make it up to here."

Mary asked "Ah! That's what you were up to." I looked at Mary and smiled a little, I told Mary that I wasn't able to get gifts for the kids this time and she replied: "Oh dear it's totally okay, I am happy that Snow is here, Snow is the gift we all wanted this Christmas."

I smiled and thought that indeed she is the gift we all want but I cannot have her, because she has someone. Snow and Mary had talked for 30 minutes or so because Mary had to sleep so she can get up in the morning and make breakfast for the kids. After we left the Orphanage, Snow said "This is funny."

I asked "What?" She sighed and said, "You always visit this place after we broke up." I quickly made up my answer as I said "I have formed a bond with the kids. So I visit them every Christmas." Snow felt unease with my answer but covered it up by saying "That's sweet of you Alex." I smiled at her and she smiled back. Gosh, why does her smile make me feel butterflies? Don't smile Snow, it makes me weak.

She started to talk about how good she felt after coming back to town. I was just listening to her voice and nodding as I thought keep talking Snow, I love your voice and I want to keep listening to it until death. Your voice is the sweetest melody in my life.
She turned towards me and asked, "Do you want to have a drink?" I asked, "Is it safe for a lady like you to drink with a young gentleman late at night?" She laughed and said "I am safe until you are by my side. Unless you decide to leave me all drunk by myself and I end up beating some guys and waking up not remembering anything."

I laughed and said, "You cannot beat up guys, your too soft for that." She looked at me with a frown on her face as she asked with a tone of feminine rage "Are you saying that women cannot fight?" I couldn't hold my laughter as I said "No they can fight. It's just I've never seen you fight." She flipped her hair back and said "So you are challenging me?"
"I never said that"
"Then let's see who is the strongest."
"Fight?"
"Challenge accepted young gentlemen."
"What are we even fighting about?"
"Let's say we are fighting for Winter your girlfriend. "

I chuckled but didn't knew she was serious as she started to punch my face. I was shocked and decided to play along. My gentle punch was on the side of the stomach to and the consequences were pretty bad, she kicked my ass and made me fall, pulling my hand while I tried to get away with her as I said "Damn Snow you're more stronger than I thought you would. Who taught you self-defense?" She was still on guard as she said: "Thanks, now you know who is strongest." She left me as I got up and said "You didn't tell me who taught you." She looked away and thought about it and said "Let's go home, it's getting pretty late." My hand started to shake as I held her hand and pulled her towards me while saying "You didn't answer me yet Snow." She looked pale as she replied, "He did." I loosen a little grip on her hand and said "Tell me about him, it's okay I won't tell anyone nor judge you. You can trust me, Snow."

Unease with my talks, she decided to leave me. She slowly let go of her hand from my grip and walked away. I felt embarrassed and started to walk towards my house. Maybe she doesn't trust me or maybe she still loves him. What if he isn't good to her and she loves him? That's bad. Very bad. As I walked towards my house, all my thoughts were towards Her. All of the sudden my thoughts were toward the Winter Kiss. How soft her lips were, how slowly we had marked each other, and how we loved each other. After going home, I had drunk more wine and slept while crying about how fucked up things are.

I wish things would be okay. I wish.
