Cyrus Jackson is a teenager moving with his family to a new town "We're almost here guys" Cy's dad said to his family as he drove into their new town. Cy looked out the window and thought about all that's happened in his life. When Cyrus was a few years old his birth parents were killed in a car accident with him witnessing it then being adopted by their best friends the Harrison's after which Cy would be put into therapy and told to write a journal in order to help cope. When Cy was ten his adopted parents would have a daughter named Kimberly who Cy would consider his sister. "Okay when we get to the new house we are going to be putting beds up so I'll need your help" Jack said to Cy. "Okay dad" Cyrus said thinking about his now ex girlfriend and all that he left behind. The family got to their new house and started to unload their boxes then beds and mattresses and quickly putting them together then Cy hid his parents wedding rings he kept on a necklace. The family got Cy and Kim registered for the last few months of school then going out to get dinner. After dinner they returned home and got out some board games and played until they went to bed.

The next day Cyrus got ready and walked to school and on the way there he noticed a girl from across the street and walked parallel to her all the way to the school. A few classes had gone by when two guys approached Cy and told him about a job offering and said to meet them out front after school for more details. The day continued on and some people were grouped around the guys and were handed a card with a number on the back. Cy got the card and registered for the application process before heading home for a while then getting a call with an address for the candidates to go to.

Cyrus told his parents that he'd be back and that he was going to go explore the town and walked to the interview. Once at the address he saw a building and walked in and asked asked a woman at the front desk about the job offering and was given paperwork to sign and a number with Cy being given seventeen and was sent into a room full of people who were about his age. Cy looked around and saw the girl he'd seen that morning. "Everyone get one foam staff from the rack near the wall" a voice said over the intercom, "the rules are simple you get hit two times you're out and will be seen on camera and will not be allowed to continue, there are twenty of you, by the end we will have ten so line up on opposing walls and good luck".

A buzzer sounded to signal to the candidates to start the fight, Cy sat back and watched as he saw people running to fight and saw a few more people had hung back including the girl. Eventually Cyrus went out into the fight to secure his spot and working his way to the other side of the room where he'd seen the girl and helping her from being attacked and continuing fighting eventually being cornered and being helped. As the competitors were taken out their numbers were called Cy and the girl would unknowingly be helping each other until they were in the remaining ten candidates.

One by one people were called in and eventually Cy and the girl talked for a while and eventually got called in together. The two went in and the man at the desk looked at the two and asked "do you two know eachother, it doesn't matter if you do or not but still I'd like to ask". "This is our first time meeting sir" Alice said to the man. "May I ask why you ask?" Cy asked. The man turned his monitor to show the two the security footage of them working coordinated with one another "I want you two to work directly under me, if you can work together without knowing each other what could you do together". "What's the job" Alice said. "Well miss Johnson," the man said "you'll be working as a delivery person, a chauffer, and a body guard and paid more than all three combined". "I'm in," Cy said. The man looked at Alice "and you miss Johnson?". "Count me in" Alice said looking at Cy and the man. "Wonderful, my name is Mr Bennett and I'll be your boss" Bennett said as he stood up to shake the pairs hands, "and I'd recommend getting to know each other". Bennett pulled out two burner phones for the two, "I'll be contacting one of you on one of these, it will be up to one of you to alert the other". Cy picked up his phone and saw it had two contacts one labeled work and the other labeled partner. "You two are free to go" Bennett said "I'll be in contact tomorrow after school ends". Alice got Cy's phone number then walked out to her car.

"You're the new kid right?" Alice said as they walked out together. "Yeah, I just got here yesterday" Cy said. "I saw you this morning when you were walking to school, you live just down from me" Alice said. "Cool, I'll see you tomorrow then" Cy said as he started walking home. "Would you like a ride, at least to the my street then you can go from there," Alice asked Cy. Cy started walking back and said thanks as he got in her car. "No problem, can I ask why you moved here?" Alice asked as they drove home. "My dad's job required him here, so we all came with him" Cy said. The two continued the rest of the way talking about their lives a little until they got to her neighborhood and Cy got out and walked down to his house which was just around the corner from her. "How'd it go," Cy's mom asked "did you meet anyone?". "Actually I did I met a girl from around the corner and we made plans to hang out after school tomorrow," Cy said as he got in and settled down.
