the first challenge

A few weeks had gone by since Cy and his family moved in and Cy got his job. Alice and him had quickly become friends as they would wait in Bennett's car while he was doing buisness leaving them time to chat and get to know each other. School had let out for the weekend and Alice got the call from Bennett saying to come to the office where they'd meet him then go to wherever he needed to go that day. "It's time for work," Alice said to Cy over the phone. "Okay I'll pick you up in five minutes" Cy said as he hung up and got ready then said goodbye to his family then drove to Alices's house.

"Miss Johnson, mister Jackson good to see you both" Bennett said to the two, "today you're driving me to lunch, Cyrus would you bring the car around" Bennett said as he tossed Cy his keys. Cy went down and got Bennetts car and waited out front for Alice and Bennett. Bennett got in the back seat and Alice got in the front and Cy drove them to the restaurant and Bennett got out and went inside. Cy and Alice waited for a while and made conversation when eventually Bennett came out and Cyrus helped him in while Alice got in the driver's seat. As they drove down the road Bennett asked if Cyrus knew how to handle a gun then told him to open the glove box and get the pistol out of the compartment inside because they may need it. Cy nodded and got the pistol out saying he knew how to use it.

As they drove down the road Cy heard gunfire and the back window shattering. Cy turned around to see Bennett pulling a blanket around himself to cover himself and started firing back at the assaulters. "Are you okay sir?" Cy asked as he continued firing. "Yes, just keep going," Bennett said as they continued down the road. Cy fired another shot and hit the driver causing them to lose control and giving Alice a chance to lose them. "I think we lost them" Cy said to Alice as they got closer to the office. "Good now take us back" Bennet said pulling the blanket off of himself. Alice pulled into the garage and then got out and went to help Bennett along with Cy. "Thank you both, miss Johnson I have a question for you" Bennett said "can you shoot a gun?". "No sir," Alice said as they walked towards the elevator. "There's a shooting range in the back, mister Jackson take her down there and teach her" Bennett said as he stepped into the elevator. Cy nodded then went out back with Alice, "Do you know anything about guns?". "No," Alice said as they walked into the shooting range.

Cy set up a few targets and put them on the line and sent them down. Cy demonstrated how to shoot then gave Alice the pistol and explained how to hold it and how to act around a gun, showed her how to take the safety off then told her to aim and fire. Alice took a few shots and missed then turned to Cy with Cy saying "Not bad, do you mind if I help you?". "No, do what you need to" Alice said frustrated. Cy helped her position her body in the right stance and position to shoot by wrapping his arms around hers to . "Is this good?" Alice said. "Should be, take one and a half breaths and shoot on your half a breath" Cy said still holding her "in a combat scenario like todays you wont have time to breathe so you'll have to be ready to shoot without hesitation". Alice shot the target several times then put the gun down and asked Cy to bring the target back. "Always be sure to put the safety back on" Cy said grabbing the gun, putting the safety on and putting it back down then bringing the target to them "two torso shots, good job" Cy said to Alice. Then put another sheet on the line and sent it back down for her to go again without his help. The two did this for a while then Cyrus drove them home.

"Hey thanks for teaching me," Alice said to Cy on their way home. "No problem, always glad to help" Cy said as he pulled into the street where Alice lived. "Hey what if we go out tomorrow?" Alice Said. "To hang out or what?" Cy asked. "Like a date" Alice said as Cy pulled up to her house "we have tomorrow off so I just figure we can go get dinner and stuff". "Sounds good what time are you thinking?" Cy asked. "How does meet at six and go from there," Alice said. Cy agreed then Alice got out and Cy went home.

"How was your day?" Cy's mom asked as he got into the house. "Good, just the normal stuff" Cy said as he got into his house. "Dinner will be ready in a few minutes, go tell your dad and sister to get ready after you change" Carrie said as she finished up making dinner. Cy got changed and called everyone to dinner and helped Carrie put the food on the table. The four all sat together at the table talking about their days then Cy told them about his date as they ate. "What timeand who is she?" Jack asked. "Were gonna meet at six, her name is Alice and she lives around the corner, we go to school together," Cy said. "Be safe," Carrie said as she continued eating. When they finished eating the family sat together and played board games in the living room until it was time for Cy and Kimberly to go to bed. Once Cy went to bed he wrote in his journal about what had happened that day then hid it so his parents couldn't find it.
