Boys dressed in black round neck tops, white joggers and white sweatshirts with different types and colors of footwears and girls dressed in white round neck tops, black joggers, and black sweatshirts with various colors and types of footwears flood the compound of Ademola Junaid's Montessori as they all go about their businessthis bright Wednesday.
Hassan runs up to the trio breathing heavily as they stand together.
"Good morning guys."
"Morning bro." They chorus.
"Thanks for waiting. Alhaji is traveling so I had to wait for him to finish up before I could leave the house." He explains.
"Wait, he still does that stuff of calling you all individually and telling you what to and what not to do?" Feyintola asks in surprise.
"He still does. This morning's was a little brief since he wasn't traveling alone so the others hurried him." He says as they start towards the sports arena.
"It is well bro." Jeremy comforts him as he gives a quick nod and Inioluwa places his left arm around his shoulders.
"Just a little while more." He says patting his back in the process.
"And this exactly why I don't like telling you guys stuff. See the way Feyintola is looking at me as if I said Alhaji died. Why na?" He complains laughing.
"Really? We know what you're enduring bro. And I feel like you deserve a medal." She replies rubbing her palms together as they continue walking.
"You can bake me a cake. But I don't appreciate those looks. Just so you know." He replies as they're entering the arena passing through the hockey and volleyball courts.
"Mature mind." Jeremy teases him as they stop at the entrance of the basketball court. Jeremy adjusts his sling bag properly on his shoulder and sends them a smile.
"See you guys by 12." He says and pushes the door open.
"He won't even miss us." Hassan complains as if he were not still standing.
"I'm still here bro. And no, I won't miss you guys because I'm about to to what I lobe doing. Good luck with you strong legged children." He wishes them bye and disappears into the room shutting the door after him.
"Goodbye long legs." Hassan mutters after him and they all turn to head over to the football field at the last part of the arena.
"Feyintola, looks like you're the last person the coach is waiting for." Inioluwa notes and pushes her slightly forward.
"Take care guys. Play well." She holds on to her backpack and runs off into the field to meet the Coach, Mr Donald dressed in black round neck and blue joggers with black football boots same with the ones the other girls are putting on.
"Good morning Coach. Morning team."
"Hello Adams. You arrived a little late." He notes and ticks off something on the note in the book in his hands.
"I'm sorry sir. Had to wait for a friend." She explains.
"Understandable. Anyways, I noticed a few things from the last practice that we need to tackle. Have your seats please." He motions for them to settle down and all eleven girls sit on the grass on the field.
"You see, I noticed that you guys have issues with your passing techniques. When you get possession of the ball, you refuse to give it to another person forgetting that this is a team work. You're not playing as Ope, Felicia, Aishat, or any other individual, you're playing at the Horses. And you're a team. Do you get?"
"Yes sir." They chorus as some of them nod in accordance.
"Okay. I think that's it. And you should always be together. If one person is in control of the ball make sure that at least two people are around the person so that the opponent team won't snatch the ball away again. Understood?"
"Aye aye captain!"
"Okay then. Let's do this. We're trying to make adjustments to this rule so play like a team." He jumps up to his feet and the girls stand up one after the other.
"Your training bibs on, let's go for a lap and come back to play." He orders throwing on an orange training football bib as the girls mirror his actions and jog after him.Teamwork is needed in every aspect of life. No matter how little it seems. Have you ever had any issue with teamwork or cooperation? Or is there that person you know who just won't work hard in hand with someone. How does it feel relating with such a person?
