"So Dad and Mom, can I ask you a question?" Feyintola asks settled inside the car with her parents, Aunt and friends.
"Go on daughter." Dr Adams urges her looking back from the driver's seat.
"What changed your mind? Or should I say who? I was surprised when I heard you were around but extra surprised when I saw you apologising to coach Donald."
"He was as surprised to." Irewamiri says making everyone laugh.
"So what's the reason for the change? It's not like I'm complaining. Infact, I love it." She confesses holding her aunt's arm as the later wraps her hands around her.
"Well, I will go first. Your father can add the extras." Mrs Adams starts still smiling.
"Okay. When you were adamant, your father and I already decided that we would leave you to do anything you want except football. I must confess I have always had this notion that footballers are poor people because they risk their lives for the meager amount they receive. That was why I was totally against you. Besides, a close friend of mine, Adesegun died when we were in final year in school because he had an accident while playing football and his coach didn't attend to him on time. So anytime you mentioned you playing football that incident will just come back in my head and all. I had no choice but to say no."
"You could have explained to me just like you're explaining." Feyintola counters looking at her sitted beside her husband. Her mother nods in agreement before turning to look past Irewamiri, Jeremy and Hassan sitted beside her to the third row where she's sitted with the older Feyintola and Hassan.
"Well, I didn't feel like it. But thank God I realized my mistake. Besides, you were not helping matters. You just wanted to do everything a boy will do, so I had to block you. I had no choice. So I was still adamant and bent on saying no, before this guys, your friends I mean, paid your father and I a visit."
"So when they came around, I was very annoyed because I was just about to leave for work. I wanted to shun them until they said it was a life issue. So I gave them time to talk and they started with how God created us all with beautiful purposes. Inioluwa mentioned how our purposes are meant to face oppositions so we can turn out better and have a more beautiful story to tell. So he mentioned that everything you're going through is opposition and persecution from us. He got me at persecution. I excused myself. When I got to work, I was really distracted and I went to check cases of persecution online. I saw Saul and the Christians, emperor Nero and other instances like that. I felt sad and guilty and I knew I had to change. I prayed for the first time in a while and I felt peace. When I got home I told your mother and I met her with a bigger size of heartache. She said the boys reminded her of the opposition she faced from her father when she decided to study Nutrition and Dietics. I can testify that it was not easy. We prayed together and that was when she explained to me that you were only going for surgery just to please us and that you love pscyochology instead. I was sad, I didn't know so much about my own daughter." He says and motions for his wife to pick up again.
"After that, we attended two therapy sessions and all thanks be to God I got the definition of human to being you. That is why I asked that your room be repainted to give the colors brighter enlightenment." She says.
"Thanks Mom. I'm sure I will love it."
"All thanks to your Aunt and your friend. I'm sorry dear."
"Me nko? I did something too na." Irewamiri questions.
"You did a lot. Thanks bro." She appreciates him.
"How did I do today Dad?"
"Explicitly well. Let me check my dictionary for a new word that is greater than that." He says emitting laughter from the occupants of the car.
"Thanks Aunt Tola. Thanks guys. Thanks Dad and Mom, I love you all." She says in appreciation.
"You're welcome Rash!" The boys chorus as if pre-planned.
"What's Rash?" Mrs Adams asks.
"That's supposed to be who is Rash?" The older Feyintola corrects her smiling.
"Not you too Aunt Tola."
"Rasheedat Ajibade is a striker Mom. She plays so well for PSG and she's Nigerian too. Since Feyintola is a striker too, we decided to give her that name."
"Wow! Congratulations Rash." Dr Adams says turning to look at them.
