"Hey Dad." Irewamiri chirps as he plops on the dining chair beside his father.
"How are you doing?"
"I'm fine sir."
"Where's your sister?" He asks looking up to coincidentally meet the gaze of Feyintola dressed in an old blue jersey and black skirt.
"Good evening sir." She genuflects and sits on the chair opposite his.
"Why are you sitting so far?" Her brother asks.
"Aunt Tola is sitting beside Mom."
"Oh. Okay. Hey Aunt!" He greets as Feyintola comes into the sitting room bearing a silver tray with different dish bowls and spoons closely followed by her elder sister, carrying a food dish and a soup bowl on another tray, this time teal green colored.
"How are you doing nephew?"
"I'm hungry." He replies earning a short laugh from everyone in the room.
"I can totally see it all over you." She replies and sits after dropping the tray on the glass made dining table. Mrs Adams takes her time to serve everyone a good portion of the meal consisting of fried rice, salad and beef. Their father is about to dig in before their aunt clears her throat.
"Prayer bro."
"Oh. I forgot. Please do us the honors." He says tilting his head towards her direction.
"Father Lord we say thanks for this meal. Bless it oh Lord and make it go to the right places. Also, please provide for those that are yet to have something to eat and bless us all in Jesus name!" She prays.
"Amen!!" The family choruses as everyone immediately gets busy with their meal.
"Feyintola and her religious ways."
"It's not religion sis. It's culture. That's what I live and practice."
"Yes madam." Mrs Adams acknowledges in mock respect before she returns to her meal.
"Family, will you please rejoice with me on my newly badged award?"
"Really?" Feyintola asks making her sister's husband beam at her as his wife lovingly holds his hand in hers.
"Congratulations love." She says putting on a wide smile.
"Congratulations Dad. We love you." Irewamiri wishes him earning a thumbs up.
Feyintola raises up her head from her meal and jams her hands together giving her father a broad smile.
"Congratulations Dad. More wins to record."
"Thanks daughter. I'm doing all this to build a name for you." He replies looking squarely at her.
"Only if she would appreciate it and drop that football nonsense." Her mother interrupts.
"Clara? What are you talking about?" Her younger sister cautions her sending her a warning look. She rolls her eyes and returns to face her meal muttering incorrigible words as she returns to her meal.
"Did anything's happen while I was away?"
"Anything like?"
"I don't know. Just gist me. Why is my love looking at you too like that?"
"She probably is annoyed that you're focusing all your attention on Feyintola instead of her when you're just returning home. I call it jealousy."
"Really?" Dr Adams asks turning to face his wife as Irewamiri tries so hard to stifle his laughter earning him a mild glare from his Aunt.
"I'm sorry dear. I didn't mean to. But you know how much I'm working just to make sure that our daughter, Feyintola gets into the industry at ease and meets every thing at ease too. I don't want her to struggle for anything at all. She should just asks for anything in her father's name and it should be given to her." He expresses his heart grievances as he holds on to her hand.
"I do understand dear. Thanks for you do." She replies smiling sweetly at him not noticing the silent conversation going on between the others on the table.
Irewamiri mutters a "lucky you" to Feyintola who nods and turns to their Aunt.
"Thanks sis." She appreciates whispering as the latter puts on a wide smile and resumes her meal.Wahala wanted to happen the other time o. Feyintola just saved the day sha.
