"So Irewamiri since your sister doesn't look like she's actually going to bend to our rules...." Dr Adams starts.
"You decided to try me." Irewamiri completes for him.
"Something like that. Okay.... So I was thinking if you would want to study surgery instead. You know, so if after studying surgery and she doesn't want to practice, we at least know that we're not at a loss."
"Really? But I have plans for him already." Exasperated Mrs Adams says annoyed.
"I'm sorry dear but we might have to forfeit that for now. We can always get someone to run the place and again, we can make him get married to a banker and she will run the place."
Clapping of hands interrupts him and they both turn surprisingly to behold Irewamiri smiling like a freak.
"Wow! Is that my future all planned out? You guys have really tried o. Infact you deserve organising awards. You did well." He says rising up to his feet. He turns to go upstairs before his father calls out.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm returning to my room. Or better still, go do something productive with someone who actually understands me." He replies.
"Come back here Irewamiri." His mother instructs and he returns to his former position.
"I'm back here not because you called me but because it will be a suicide mission not to give you a piece of my mind." He scoffs and looks at them with determination in his mind and hurt in his eyes.
"You see that girl up there, Feyintola, she has the patience that I don't and the potential that many lack. Do you know how many people are actually trying to have half of the skills she has?"
"To hell with her skills." His father says.
"If you say so. But her Patience is the bad thing in this. And thank God I don't have it. So, I will be telling you this without mincing words. I'm not interested in being a surgeon like you suggest or a banker like Mom wants. I have my own future planned out and thanks to Christ, it's secured." He starts amidst bewildered looks from his parents.
"What are you talking about?"
"I just started Mom. It's a better opportunity than both of yours combined." He says putting on a smile not reaching his eyes.
"So, I want to become a teacher and a writer....." He starts.
"What?"
"Excuse you?"
His parents shout at the same time.
"Let me finish please. I will be teaching the subjects, Yoruba language and Literature." And no Jupiter can thwart it. Just so you know. What do you think?"
"It's impossible." Dr Adams raves. "It is not possible. At least not under my roof."
"Then I will gladly walk out of here and you can then explain to people how you sent out your only son from the house just because you want him to be a surgeon and banker at the same time. Wow! Just wow! Sometimes I wonder if you have ever studied us to actually know what we want." He spits and stands up to leave.
"Irewamiri I'm telling you once again, it's either surgery or nothing else." Dr Adams shouts and almost follows him up the stairs if not for the timely intervention of his wife who holds his arm.
"You lie Dad. He knows the thoughts he has for me and I know them too."The door opens again and she rushes up to Irewamiri.
"You want to talk about it?"
"They're not worth it."
"Ire...." She starts but he hugs her instead.
"You're trying sis. You really are. I almost wanted to beat him up to reinforce my point. How do you survive saying it calmly?"
"It's the Holy Spirit."
"Well, he spurred me to talk instead. I'm tired. It's like they don't even have emotions."
"It's fine bro. I know it is." She says smiling while pulling his cheeks.
He smiles back bringing out his phone.
"Let me host you on mini Militia."
"I'm not interested." She says laying on the bed.
"Since when?"
"Since now. Let's go for a stroll instead." She suggests and he looks out the window.
"They just left. Let's go and bake." He says and pulls her up from the bed as she laughs shaking her head.
"Talk about not having emotions." She teases him as they leave her room.
"I got it from them o."Do you have interesting moments with your siblings??? Well, I do though sometimes we fight a whole lot. Irewamiri is the plug😁❣️❣️. Who is your favorite character so far?
