Tokyo, Japan

"Say, why are we after these monkeys again?" Taehyung adjusted his grip around the bag slung over his shoulders. Glancing at his friend with a curious brow. "This is quite the hassle just for some figurines."
"We're not after all of them," Jimin corrected him and stopped when reaching underneath the vent in the museum's basement, "Just one. The one with the sapphire in his embrace."
"Yeah, that. Why are we even bothering? I thought we need the bronze key displayed."
Jimin frowned at his inquiring look. "I think you confused it with the other one last year where we needed to obtain a document along with a key to crack open a safe. Remember?"

Taehyung blinked, realising his mistake. And he chuckled awkwardly. "Oh, yeah. Right. Sorry."
He remained silent, observing his friend getting rid off his custodial staff disguise with a wistful smile.

Truth was, he wasn't surprised as it hadn't been the first time in this past year Taehyung had been a little scatterbrained at heists, even absent-minded at times. And Jimin and Yoongi knew the reason why, that was why they never got upset about it. In a way, they felt for their friend, although a year - or rather one and a half years - should've been enough for some people to get over a break-up, but it didn't seem to be the case for Taehyung.

And since none of them could really relate to what he was going through - not even Jimin as he still constantly saw and messed around with Arabella despite their break-up years ago, due to both of them working in the same field - they tried remaining understanding. To be honest, he sometimes wondered if Taehyung regretted his decision back then. If asked, he'd always remain firm in his choice having been the 'right one', but Jimin could tell he was still struggling with it.

"It's alright, don't sweat it. With so many heists we've done, it's sometimes hard to keep track and we're nearing our 30s," he laughed then and slapped the taller guy's shoulder in an attempt to make it less uncomfortable for him.
After getting rid off his own disguise, he revealed the blueprint plan from underneath the overall and laid it out on the ground. "So, suick reminder," he grinned then, "We need this specific sapphire along with the document we obtained in Austria to lead us to the actual treasure." His index finger traced over the piece of paper, brows knitted together in concentration, eventually finding their current position. There. His hand went up to his hidden earpiece then.
"Yoongi, you hear me?"

It rustled before a bored voice anwered on the other line. "Yeah, in position."
"Alright. Did you see anyone out of place?"
"Yeah, tons of cops pretending to be normal gallery visitors," the older one chuckled lightly.
Jimin's brow arched and he locked gazes with Taehyung. "Huh, so pops did figure it out after all."
"He may be an idiot sometimes, but he isn't that dumb," Taehyung mumbled then, "It was a quite easy one."
"Indeed," Jimin nodded, not the slightest bothered by it. The riddle's easiness served a purpose after all. His lips tucking into a smug grin, "But he surely didn't notice the second one and missed it. Bet he felt too proud of himself to question the rest."
Predicting his opponent's thought process and actions was a key factor in this profession and Jimin had always been a clever boy.
"Let's hope you're right," Taehyung beside him sighed. Not as certain about it as the probability was quite certainly fifty-fifty for Seokjin to crack the second half of the message as well. Although he trusted his friend and hoped he was right, they had to still be prepared for the worst case.

The dyed-blonde only huffed jokingly. "I'm always right!"
Taehyung gave him a doubtful expression while they could hear Yoongi laughing dryly through the in-ear transmitters. And Jimin rolled his eyes.
"Fine, maybe not always. But ninty percent of the time."
"Sure."
"Yoongi, we'll switch off the lights for exactly five seconds. You sure that's enough time?" he said then, switching topics and going back to their actual heist plan.
A scoff was heard. "Did I ever need longer?"
Jimin smiled.
