Let's recap what you know!
You know how to start writing and its basics. We've gone over the big idea, and how to outline your story. Well, the idea or ideas of your story.
Now, let's get your ideas or idea into the plot.
Ready? Good!
Let's begin with the definitions.
Definition:
"The main events of a play, novel, movie, or similar work, devised and presented by the writer as an interrelated sequence."
For example, "the plot consists almost entirely of a man and woman falling in love."
That is one of the definitions. Here's one for a Story Plot.
What is a Story Plot? Can you guess?
No, Doctor. The plot is what happens in the story. Need more info? Sure, I got you. It is the action of the story that drives the narrative forward.
Sounds simple enough. Well, we need to address the elephant in the room. Do you know what it is? No? That's okay, I will tell you.
Drum roll, please.
Ladies and Gentlemen, put your hands together for The Cliche Plot! Sadly, this is something not to celebrate. The reason why you love writing is that you have something that's yours and only yours.
Let's go over what is a cliche plot.
Description:
"A scenario or expression that is used excessively, to the point that it is considered unoriginal."Now, I know that seems bad. However, if you know what you want, and how to make an original, that seems to be different from a cliche plot. I say go for it.
If you can't make it unique then don't try to make yourself come up with an idea that makes you can't write. Then you might yourself into a spin. Maybe a writer's block.
My feedback is, simply don't do it.
Let's get into some cliche plots to look out for. Now, it doesn't mean avoiding them, but being aware of them when you're writing your story.
1. The Love Triangle
2. The Mirror Look
3. The Mary Sue
4. The Happily Ever After "Think Disney"
5. The Random Romance
If you want me to go more in-depth in these plots, please comment: "I would like to explain more."
