Standing outside the hospital, I chewed on the corn dog that I bought just minutes ago. Before I could even think about having another, the corn dog in my hand finished. I was not hungry, I was just stressed. Eating my problems away was the most effective thing.
Vincenzo was still inside with Ms. Oh, probably waiting for me to come back. But I did not want to go back. The truth was that hospitals give me the ick. I have never really liked the aura of a hospital.
People dying as you walk, some losing the purpose of their life, and some caught in the act of trying to kill themselves.
It was downright depressing.
Waving off the traumatic thoughts I have had with hospitals, I switched open my phone, dialing a familiar number. The person picked up my call on the second ring.
"Thank God, you finally remembered I exist." Jun-woo spoke from the other side, and I rolled my eyes, a smile automatically creeping its way up my lips at his dramatic greeting.
"Don't be too happy." I replied. "I was just going to ask you about the information I asked you to collect."
A disappointed sigh left him. "So, that's why you called." I hummed in response. "Yes, I have the information. Where do you want me to give it to you?" He spoke grimly.
"I'm in front of a hospital currently. Wait, I'll send you the location. Can you come by right now?"
"Anything for you, m'lady." He said dramatically and I laughed, hanging up the call. Before I could put my phone back, Vincenzo called me.
"What?" I talked as soon as I answered.
"Where are you? It's almost been half an hour since you left me here." He said and I furrowed my brows, putting the phone away from my ear to check the time. It had been half an hour indeed.
"Biane. I didn't realize." I said to him. "Say your goodbyes to Ms. Oh and we can leave." I was about to hang up when my gaze settled on a certain Korean-American across the wide road. "Jun-woo?" I muttered under my breath. I hung up the call, opening my texts.
Me: Yah, how did you get here so fast?
Jun-woo looked at the text his phone dinged with then looked up, trying to search where I was messaging him from. I waved a hand in the air and caught his attention. A smile crawled up his face when he set his eyes on me. Looking down, he texted back.
Jun-woo: I was nearby :)
He pointed a finger towards my side, as if to ask if he should come over here. I shook my head in a 'no', gesturing him to tell him that I was coming over to his side. Since, the car was parked on that side, I should be the one to go there.
I walked on the crossing, my gaze forward when my phone pinged with a notification. I stopped walking once I checked the notification.
Suddenly, I was frozen. I felt myself unable to move as I stared at my phone screen. My surroundings were starting to become a blur, the constant chatter of people around me transformed into muffled voices. I felt myself being unable to breathe properly.
