I wish I Didn't Have To

Chloe swore she'd take my secret to her grave, and I believed her. It was a relief that I could finally talk to someone about Pedro and I, because ever since he first kissed me I've been trying incredibly hard to keep everything bottled up, wishing I could just tell my best friend. Now that she knew, there was no holding back.

I held off on mentioning the fact that Chloe knows about us to Pedro, however. At least for a couple days. I hadn't seen him for a little while because he's been off going to interviews and doing photo shoots of his own.

I went over to his house after two days of not seeing him, and it was like I never left. It was dark outside; 11pm. I still parked my car three houses down, I was used to doing that. When I walked in, I saw Oj sat in front of the door waiting for someone to get there. He meowed and began brushing up against my legs. I walked over to the kitchen and opened up one of the overhead cabinets to retrieve a bag of cat treats, then gave a few to him. As I neared the bedroom, I could hear the shower running, I knew Pedro must've been in there, so I set my things down and made myself comfortable. A few moments later he emerged from the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist, water droplets speckled on his skin, his hair disheveled and wet. He smiled and placed a kiss onto my lips, his way of saying hello. "You know, you don't have to park three houses down anymore." He said, entering his closet.

"Yes I do, people will get suspicious if they see the same car parked here every night."

"This is a quiet neighborhood, not a lot of paparazzi hang out around here." Pedro stepped back out wearing nothing but a pair of boxers. "If they did I would've moved by now."

My eyes fixated on one of the artworks hung on the wall. "Okay, I'll park over here from now on."

"Thank you."

He dried his hair off a little more with his towel, turned off the light switch, and climbed into bed with me. Pedro shuffled beneath the comforter, trying to find a comfortable position to lay in. He smelled clean, I loved the way his shower products smelled. I extended my arm across his body, the warmth of his skin making contact with mine. His arm was rested under my neck, my head laying on his shoulder. "It doesn't seem like you're even trying to keep us a secret anymore." I mentioned. He didn't say anything in response. "Why is that?"

"I just stopped caring about what people might say."

"I told someone...my best friend." I said. I didn't know what I expected him to say. I've spoken to him about Chloe before, but he didn't know her, so I wasn't sure what he'd think of the fact that she now knows about whatever it is that Pedro and I have. "She said she'd never tell anyone."

"I believe you." He said. "If you trust her, I trust her." I shifted up to kiss his face, and we eventually fell asleep.

Filming was canceled the next day due to inclement weather, it had begun raining after Pedro and I went to bed the night before, and it's been pouring nonstop since. We woke up at five in the morning, the thunder and lightning were so loud and bright that I opened my eyes. Once Pedro sensed movement from me, he awoke as well. "Jesus." He whispered.

"You think they'll make us go to set in this weather?"

He shook his head, and we lay back down trying to fall back asleep.

At 9am the rain still hadn't stopped, or even calmed down. We made breakfast together and stayed in the whole day. It did feel like I was living with him, and as much as I wanted to say yes to his previous offer, I knew it wouldn't be the best decision. We had no title, no label. I didn't even know what to call us when I was explaining it to Chloe. I wanted to ask Pedro what he thought we were, but there's no conversation a guy hated more than the 'what are we' one.
