INTERMISSION - Six Years Ago

It had been two years since they had gotten out of high school. So many of their friends had gone off to college, while others had stayed behind in South Park to start their lives, a few even doing college classes online.

But Thomas sat alone at the new residence of Tweek, Craig, and himself, not knowing what to do. He didn't know who he wanted to be. He wasn't even able to land a job and keep it, while Tweek and Craig both worked and attended college online. He just stayed home, sinking into the loneliness while his self worth slowly drained.

"Honey!" Craig called from the front door as he entered, Tweek entering behind him. "We're home!"

Thomas looked up from where he was sitting at the table, trying to find anything at all that would help his situation. "H-hey- SHIT-" He responded.

Craig moved into the room and smiled softly, giving the shorter a kiss on the forehead as Tweek made his way into the kitchen. Thomas silently glanced back at his laptop with a sigh, and the taller glanced at the screen.

"Find anything?" He asked. Thomas only shook his head. "You'll get there Toms. I know you'll find something." He then moved into the kitchen with Tweek, leaving Thomas to his own devices.

The latter just simply sat in silence, staring at the computer screen but doing nothing. He just got lost in thought, making no progress whatsoever even as he felt horrible for it. Every day he just felt worse. He wasn't doing anything with his life. He was just sitting at home, causing problems for his boyfriends even though they refused to admit it.

"Hey Toms," Craig suddenly spoke up, breaking him from his trance. "Tweekers and I are going to go to the store to grab something for dinner, alright?" Thomas looked up at him and simply nodded, wearing a fake smile as the two moved out of the room and toward the garage. He simply listened as the door to the garage shut before he was left in silence once again. He glanced back at the laptop, slowly reaching forward and shutting it. He just stared at the closed laptop for what felt like hours, but in reality he'd only been there a few minutes.

He blinked and glanced up at the window as he heard the tell-tale sound of a car passing by, its passenger likely far more successful in one day than Thomas had been in his entire life. He sighed, slowly standing and meandering toward the window to stare out, staring through the unbuilt houses across the street to the horizon beyond. His eyes wandered to a picture on the top of a small table next to the couch, a fond memory the three of them shared from when they visited a local fair that had come through nearly a year ago. He looked over Craig and Tweek's smiles, the happiness in their eyes clear. He found himself staring at his own smile, genuine but anxious and shy.

They'd only ever been good to him, yet what had he done to deserve it? All he did was ruin every opportunity that came his way. He wanted to prove himself but he felt like he never could.

At least, he could never prove himself to himself. He knew Craig and Tweek loved him as is.

But he didn't love himself.

He stared back out the window as more cars passed by, and he wondered where they were all going. He wondered if they knew what they were doing, and if they knew who they were.

And then he was broken from his thoughts as a flurry of slurs escaped from him. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop. It took him a long few minutes to finally calm down. He sat on the couch and stared out the window, thinking.

Slowly he stood from the couch with a dreadful idea in mind, and even though he didn't want to do it he felt like he had to. He moved toward the table where he'd left his phone and wallet sitting by the laptop, silently grabbing them and placing them in his pockets. He looked around the house, studying the walls and the floors, the ceilings and the furniture. He stared at photos as he passed them by, moving toward the garage.
