INTERMISSION - Two Years Ago

"I don't know how this is gonna go," Clyde said as he poured Lego pieces out onto the table. "Basically, I'm going to be building this tiny ass Lego set... except, Corey's gonna read the instructions to me. And Corey's in the kitchen. And I'm upstairs in Tolkien's room."

"You could've just said I was far away," Corey commented.

"Nah. That'd be lame," Clyde responded. "Uh anyway- Detective-in-training Tolkien is reading the instructions for Stan, so we need to get our shit done faster than them."

He paused for a moment as he picked up the instructions. "Yep. This bitch useless, YEET!!!" He aggressively threw the paper, although it just curved in the air and fell back toward him.

"Shit wait-"

"The fuck is happening?" Corey questioned.

"I should burn it-"

"Maybe don't?"

"Hide the fucking evidence," Clyde suddenly responded in a serious tone.

"... Clyde I think they already started," they pointed out.

"Shit wait yeah we agreed to start at 2 and it's 2:03," he agreed, quickly sitting down. "Okay what do I do?"

"Uh- it's two pages long so it should be easy enough, uh..." They trailed off. They took in a deep breath. "Uhhhh get a flat two by four piece."

"Yeah." He picked up the one piece they had.

"Now uh... Get two things withhh uhhhhh what the fuck?" Corey squinted at the instructions. "Dude you chose the worst person for this."

Clyde blankly stared at his desk. "... Yep."

"T-there's one stud and then there's this bit on the side with like... a circle thing on the side?"

Clyde puzzledly looked at the pieces in front of him, slowly picking out two pieces he thought looked about right. "O-okay..."

"And then there's a two by one with like a claw on the end."

"Y-yeah..."

"Now put the two by one on the end of the two by four with the claw facing out."

Clyde was visibly sweating stressfully as he snapped the piece on.

"And then take the two smaller pieces and put them directly behind it, back to back with the circle facing out," they finished.

"FUCK- okay sure," Clyde exclaimed as he put the pieces on. "Uh- I hope this is right."

"Take the two sloped three by one by twos and put them on top of the open stud slots you have left," Tolkien spoke as he blinked at the paper.

"O-okay sure," Stan responded, doing as he was told.

"Yeah, and now take two small connector pieces- they're cylindrical- and they have a ball on the end of them, and stick those in the holes."

"In the holes, huh?" Stan commented.

Tolkien laughed. "Anyway- that's the main body done."

"Oh okay cool."

Clyde picked up his phone as it rang, putting it on speaker. "Hello?"

"We're done, bitch," Tolkien spoke sassily.

Clyde glanced at the time. "What??? It's been fifteen minutes!"

"Damn are you not done? Sorry, I thought you'd be done by now," he teased.

"Corey's getting offended, can you stop?" Clyde requested.
