Mo'at pov
I went out near dusk to collect some herbs that only grow at night. As I was walking through the trees I heard the cries of a baby. How could this be? None of the pregnant women in the village are anywhere near due. So how is it that I am hearing a baby cry? I head towards the sound but it starts to stop, I grow frantic fearing the worst for the innocent child. It starts up again, and I quickly run towards the sound. It stops again and this time I hear the calls of the nantang. I start running as fast as I can hoping to get to the child before the nantang can, and as I reach a clearing what I see is something that you could only experience in your wildest dreams or visions.
The predators of the forest surround a single Ikran who appears to be curled around something. As I start to enter the clearing dozens of atokirina float down and gently land on the very thing that the Ikran is currently protecting. I get closer and all the animals look up at me yet none attack. As I get closer to the Ikran what I see makes me stop. For what I see is in fact a baby, yet she is different. She is a pale color with no queue or tail to be found on her body. The hair on her head is a beautiful red color and she has brown stars scattered across her body.(I do believe that is what the navi call freckles, correct me if I'm wrong) I don't know exactly what she is for sure, but there are a few things that I do know. One is that this is indeed a child, a child that has been blessed by Eywa herself, and two that I was meant to find this child and I do believe I am meant to take her in.
I approach the baby and the Ikran and it moves away. This instantly startles the little girl awake. She starts to whimper and I hurriedly move to pick her up and calm her. The child freezes and looks up at me. There is a slight flash of fear that runs through her eyes then it calms and turns into one of curiosity. "Calm small one, you will not be hurt as long as I am here." I told her. She reaches up and her tiny hands explore my face. She manages to get hold of my nose in her curious search. She giggles and the sound is like music to my ears. "You will come home with me now, my sweet tiny one. You will be my third and youngest daughter. I will be your mother and my mate will be your father." I tell her. She continues to giggle and grab at my braids. As she does this I start the long trek back to home tree. As I leave the animals watch me closely and as I leave the clearing the animals slowly leave as well till the only one left was the very Ikran who had guarded the sleeping child. Even she too soon left, flying off into the night.
As I enter the home tree the people surround me making a path as I walk through. My mate Eytukan and daughters wait for me near the middle of the area. "My love where have you been, you've been gone longer than normal, and what is this you have brought to our home." He asks me. "Eywa has bestowed upon us a gift, a most wonderful gift." I said as I showed him and our children the newest addition to our family. "What is it?" Neytiri my youngest at three years of age, asks me. "It's obviously a baby dummy. A very weird looking baby." Slywanin my eldest who is five replies, egging on her little sister. "I'm not a dummy!" Neytiri yells back. "Girls stop it now." My husband orders. "But I do have to agree this baby is like nothing we have ever seen. How did you come across it?" He asks me. "I found her, surrounded by the many predators of our forest yet none would attack. Not even the great palalukan would attack which they normally would do so in a heartbeat under normal circumstances. There were also many atokirina surrounding the child as well." I tell them.
It is settled then. My mate says as he turns to address our people. "Eywa has led my mate to this child. Her own creations protected her until Mo'at could find her. We shall welcome her into our clan as one of our own for this is the will of Eywa. Me and my mate shall raise her as our own daughter." He speaks. "Tomorrow at first light we shall head to the tree of souls for not only will we pick out a name for the child but she shall also have her first commune with the great mother. I have spoken. " He finishes his speech. The people erupt into cheers shouting, thanking the great mother and congratulating us on our newest daughter. We soon head to our family hammock to rest for the night.
As we finish getting ready for the night and gather together to sleep my dearest Neytiri asks me. "What are you gonna name her?" I hum in thought. "I don't know my child. Perhaps tomorrow I will ask the great mother for help in naming her." I say. "Now my lovely family get some rest for tomorrow shall be a very big day."
