I spent the rest of the day with grace as Tsu’tey had to get back to training the young warriors. We were weaving baskets together laughing and telling jokes and stories about our time apart. Grace kept a good eye on me the entire time, as if I would disappear and she would wake up alone in her lab, not that I could blame her.

For years she thought I was dead and for all I know blamed herself for everything that had happened. “Aunty,” I sighed knowing this was going to be a hard talk to have. “It was not your fault. No one blames you for what had happened.” I said placing my hand on hers stoping her weaving.

Her face hardened, “Your parents did.” She whispered her voice going hoarse.

“They were in mourning, aunty they could not think straight.” I pressed, taking her hand into my own. “They almost lost two daughters that day. And you lost family as well and….”

I trailed off tears nearly spilling from my eyes. “And we lost more family after they sent you away. I lost my aunt.” I said, she looked back down at me for the first time since I started the conversation. She herself had tears falling. She didn't say anything as she pulled me into her lap for a hug. Words were not needed as we sat there crying into each other's arms.

Little Riely never understood why he or other humans wore the oxygen masks as she herself for some reason didn't need one.

He never told anyone but that faithful day hurt him more than anything else had. He still to this day has nightmares of her falling to the ground. Bullet wounds spilling blood after Zdog had shot her filled his head and woke him up in a cold sweat each time.

Hearing the tell-tale sound of Jake's wheels coming down the hall to his office had him sitting up straight and fixing his composure as he stuffed the picture back into a drawer. Now was not the time to be feeling sorry. They were at war and it didn't matter if the girl was alive or not. They were at war and she, was the enemy
